Job summary

IFF, a global leader in flavors, fragrances, food ingredients and health & biosciences, invites a motivated student to join Rochester, NY on-site for a full‑time Spring/Summer 2027 internship. You will help lead engineering projects through investigation, scope, design and implementation to deliver safety and capacity improvements, while supporting plant trials and production troubleshooting.

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or related disciplines.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work and complete projects independently, as well as within a team environment.
  • Basic understanding of microbiological concepts and assays.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams).
  • Ability to read and understand Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Problem solving and critical thinking.
  • Data analysis and visualization.
  • Project leadership.
  • Process Hazard Analysis and Process Safety Management.
  • Communicating effectively and interacting with people of different backgrounds.

Responsibilities

  • Leading engineering projects through investigation, scope, design, and implementation phases to provide safety and capacity improvements.
  • Providing support to engineers in executing plant trials and production/maintenance troubleshooting.
  • Comply with all company policies including Quality, Safety, Food Safety, Environmental, GMPs, Dietary Supplements, and HACCP.
  • Adhere to all quality systems including ISO 22000 Food Safety, FAMI‑QS and NSF Dietary Supplements with an understanding of IFF Corporate Quality policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work safely and comply with all corporate/site EHS guidelines and policies.
  • Available to work full-time (40 hours per week) during Spring and Summer 2027.
