Job summary

Danfoss Climate Solutions in Tallahassee, FL is seeking a Process Engineer Intern to support manufacturing operations and drive process improvements that impact safety, quality, delivery, and cost.

You will analyze workflows, develop layouts with CAD tools, document SOPs and PFMEA, and collaborate with engineering and operations to deliver impactful projects while gaining hands-on experience in industrial engineering.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering with junior or senior standing.
  • Ability to analyze data and apply structured problem-solving methods.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel.
  • Effective written and verbal communication for cross-team collaboration.
  • Able to work at least 20 hours per week between 8am–6pm in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support manufacturing and process improvement projects by analyzing workflows and production processes.
  • Collect and evaluate operational data to establish efficient work standards.
  • Create and update SOPs and PFMEA documents.
  • Develop equipment, workspace, and facility layouts using 2D/3D CAD tools.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to troubleshoot issues and support project execution.

The Impact You'll Make

As a Process Engineering Intern, you’ll gain hands‑on experience supporting manufacturing operations while helping improve the processes that drive safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance. This is an opportunity to apply your engineering knowledge to real‑world challenges and see the direct impact of your work.

Working alongside experienced engineering and operations teams in Tallahassee, Florida, you’ll contribute to process improvement initiatives, facility and workflow optimization, and data‑driven decision‑making. Your work will help identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and support continuous improvement across the operation.

If you enjoy problem‑solving, analyzing data, and finding better ways of working, this internship offers valuable exposure to manufacturing engineering and operational excellence.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Support manufacturing and process improvement projects by analyzing workflows, material handling methods, and production processes to improve operational performance.
  • Collect and evaluate operational data using statistical analysis, observations, and time studies to help establish efficient work standards and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Create and update process documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) documents.
  • Develop equipment, workspace, and facility layouts using 2D/3D CAD tools to improve productivity, workflow, and space utilization.
  • Partner with engineering and operations teams to troubleshoot issues, recommend solutions, and support project execution while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
What We're Looking For
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, with junior or senior standing preferred.
  • Ability to analyze data, apply mathematical and statistical concepts, and use structured problem‑solving methods to improve processes.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and other business productivity tools.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering and operations teams.
  • Ability to work a minimum of 20 hours per week between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM, and perform activities that may include standing, walking, and occasionally lifting materials within a manufacturing environment.
