Job summary

CVR Energy is seeking a Process Engineer to support the Operations Superintendent in monitoring product specifications and to assist with small capital projects aimed at increasing refinery productivity and efficiency.

The role collaborates with Project Engineering and outside consultants, supports process safety and regulatory compliance, and involves after-hours support and incident investigations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Petroleum Engineering required; Chemical Engineering preferred.
• 4+ years of relevant work experience; internships encouraged.
• Knowledge of economic principles, project management and customer service.
• MS Office proficiency including Excel.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for Plant Operations and monitor assigned unit(s).
• Assist in daily monitoring, troubleshooting, and process optimization; develop capital projects.
• Collaborate with operators and engineers to resolve issues and propose unit improvements.
• Coordinate with Drafting and Engineers on small project scopes for equipment sizing.
• Support bidding for catalysts and chemicals; liaise with vendors as needed.
• Assist in planning shutdowns/startups and run performance tests; provide data to vendors.
• Track performance data using spreadsheets and relay to Project Engineering.
• Work with IT/CAD teams on control systems to improve monitoring.
• Investigate incidents and support MOCs and Process Hazard Analysis.
