Job description

Merrick & Company is looking for a Process Engineer to join our team in Oak Ridge, TN. We’re seeking candidates who are passionate about nuclear design, enjoy problem-solving, and appreciate the outdoor lifestyle that Tennessee offers.

In this role, you will primarily focus on innovative nuclear and energy projects. Successful candidates will collaborate with a diverse team of engineers and designers to deliver high-quality design and engineering solutions.

Typical annual pay range for this position is $99,400.00 - $125,700.00. Pay offered may vary depending on job related knowledge, skills, and experience.


WHAT YOU'LL DO

  1. Develop Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, Process Flow Diagrams, and General Arrangement Drawings.
  2. Perform sizing calculations for equipment such as compressors, chillers, and pumps.
  3. Conduct process line sizing calculations.
  4. Size control valves, pressure relief devices, and orifices.
  5. Create equipment and instrument datasheets.
  6. Coordinate with vendors for the selection of instrumentation and equipment.
  7. Review and verify the work of other process engineers for accuracy and completeness.
  8. Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to integrate design inputs and activities.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program (other engineering degrees may be considered with relevant experience).
  2. At least eight years of related experience or training.
  3. Proficient in ChemCad, AFT Fathom, and AFT Arrow for hydraulic pipe flow modeling.
  4. Must be able and willing to obtain a Q clearance.
  5. Professional Engineering (PE) License in Tennessee and/or South Carolina.
  6. Client projects for this position require US Citizenship.

  1. Experience with Department of Energy (DOE) nuclear projects.
