Job description

Join to apply for the Process Development Engineer role at SRI.

SRI's Center for Advanced Imaging is searching for a Process Development Engineer to join their team. The candidate will be part of a team to position SRI for continued growth in silicon CMOS, CCD, III-V, and ROIC-based imaging technologies and products deployed in the commercial, government, and military markets. The Process Development Engineer will work across SRI and with external foundries to develop advanced III-V processing technology.

The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with cleanroom operations and compound (especially InP-based) semiconductor processing and wafer fabrication, be able to develop new processes for new materials and devices, understand semiconductor device physics, especially optoelectronic device physics, communicate well, and work efficiently in a team environment. The candidate will have the opportunity to grow and lead a processing team.

The position will be on-site in the Princeton, NJ office.

Responsibilities
  1. Developing, maintaining, and improving III-V semiconductor process for photonics devices
  2. Setting up processing equipment
  3. Maintaining cleanrooms
  4. Supporting device design group
  5. Working with tools including: photolithography, wet etch, dry etch (RIE/ICP), dielectric film deposition (PECVD), metal deposition, and chip hybridization, etc.
  6. The position will be hands-on and part of a collaborative team of engineers working on production or R&D projects that lead to production.
Qualifications
  1. PhD or MS in chemistry, physics, applied physics, material science, electrical engineering, or related fields with 3 to 7 years of hands-on experience in III-V optoelectronic device processing, product development, or production engineering.
  2. Due to government contract requirements, candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Residents.
  3. Able to develop new processes for III-V optoelectronic devices, debug, and bring them to maturity.
  4. Able to carry out R&D-level low-quantity III-V semiconductor device fabrication.
  5. Solid background knowledge of semiconductor device physics.
  6. Familiar with cleanroom operation and maintenance.
  7. Familiar with or can be trained on new processing equipment setup and maintenance.
  8. Familiar with semiconductor inspection and device characterization techniques.
Intangibles
  1. Detail-oriented.
  2. Must possess a results-oriented approach.
  3. Able to work in a team environment.
  4. Self-motivated.
  5. Good communication skills.
  6. Open to learning and accepting training.

The salary range is: $101,592 - $134,613 annually. Salary ranges will vary based on factors such as location, market conditions, and internal equity.
