Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a process engineer to monitor SPC-driven manufacturing processes, ensure quality and EHS compliance, and drive improvements from pilot to full-scale production. You will develop and maintain work instructions, support batch validation, and lead capital projects related to chemical processes.

The role requires a BS in Chemical Engineering with 5–8 years in process engineering and 3+ years in chemical synthesis, preferably in batch operations.

Responsibilities

• Monitor processes and oversee SPC activities for critical processes.
• Oversee daily production quality, cycle time, EHS compliance, and adherence to work practices.
• Identify root causes of out-of-control products and implement corrective actions.
• Manage NCMR with timely closeout and root-cause resolution.
• Write and modify work Instructions for existing products.
• Support pilot-to-full-scale transition with process documentation and batch validation.
• Lead capital projects for process engineering and equipment upgrades.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate with Maintenance and Production.

Job description

• Monitor processes closely and oversee SPC-related activities for critical processes
• Monitor production daily for quality, cycle time, EHS compliance, and consistency with documented work practices
• Determine root causes for out-of-control products and other product failures, and implement corrective actions
• Manage assigned Nonconforming Material Reports (NCMR), ensuring timely closeout and resolution of root causes and corrective actions
• Write and modify Work Instructions for existing products
• Support transition from pilot to full-scale manufacturing through process documentation, batch validation, and operator training
• Lead process engineering-related capital projects
• Troubleshoot and resolve process equipment-related problems
• Collaborate with Maintenance and Production and follow Management of Change protocol for equipment repairs and process changes
• Serve as a secondary resource for plant EHS activities, including waste management shipment coordination, permit compliance monitoring, internal and external auditing, and EHS systems performance validation
• Coordinate with Maintenance and Production and oversee equipment and instrumentation calibration programs

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Chemical Engineering
• 5 to 8 years related experience preferred in a process engineering role
• Over 3 years in chemical synthesis, preferably in batch operation
• Good working knowledge in Statistical Process Control (SPC)
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to details
• Good organizational and interpersonal skills
• Quality focus, self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
• Team player and ability to interact closely with other departments
• Ability to read, write and follow written or verbal instructions
• Familiarity with P&ID’s, basic process control, pumps, piping systems, control valves, mixers, solids handling and environmental control equipment
• Ability to speak read and write English
