Job summary

Westlake Chemical is seeking a Process Engineer II to join our refinery/chemical operations. The role focuses on learning unit processes, supporting capital projects, and delivering process engineering scopes from concept through startup.

You will participate in PHA/LOPA analyses, manage MOC processes, and support full project execution, including startup readiness and incident follow-ups, while maintaining safety and environmental standards.

Qualifications

• Successful candidates must satisfy background screening, including motor vehicle record screening, drug testing and pre-employment physical requirements.
• A current, valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card is required.
• Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering is required.
• At least 5 years of full-time work experience in a refinery or chemical plant performing engineering responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Learn process and technology of assigned unit and attend morning meetings to coordinate with operations personnel.
• Support capital budget development and prepare high level scopes and economic calculations.
• Provide process engineering support from conception through startup and assist with PHA/LOPA and MOC activities.
• Lead or participate in Pre-Startup Safety Reviews and follow up on action items from RCA.
• Analyze plant operating problems, support during turnarounds and startups, and ensure safety and environmental compliance.
