Job summary

Westlake is seeking a Process Engineer II to support refinery/process engineering tasks, including project scoping, equipment sizing, MOC, PHA/LOPA, and startup activities. The role emphasizes teamwork, safety, and problem solving in a dynamic plant environment.

The successful candidate will have a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and at least 5 years of refinery/petrochemical experience, with the ability to work under direct supervision while managing multiple projects.

Qualifications

• Background screening including motor vehicle record, drug testing, and pre-employment physicals.
• TWIC card required.
• B.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering.
• 5+ years of full-time refinery/petrochemical process engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Learn process and technology of the assigned unit and communicate with operations personnel.
• Support development of a capital budget and review project cost estimates.
• Participate in brainstorming sessions to generate improvement ideas.
• Perform process engineering calculations (simulations, hydraulics, equipment sizing) for scope development.
• Lead or participate in PHA I LOPA and review recommendations.
• Initiate and manage Management of Change (MOC) for projects and safety information.
• Lead Start-Up/Pre-Startup safety reviews and follow up actions.
• Support during plant upsets, shutdowns, turnarounds, and startups.
