Peak Nano in Ohio is seeking a Process Engineer II to lead commissioning and start-up of a renovated production line and manage the technical transfer of the product line to a contract manufacturer. Reporting to the Product Engineering Leader, the Process Engineer II will lead commissioning and start-up of a renovated production line and manage the technical transfer of the product line to a contract manufacturer (CM). Peak Nano is a growing organization focused on commercializing nanolayer film to disrupt the capacitor film market. This role will work closely with all functions to ensure high quality, efficient product processing to meet customer specifications.
Lead commissioning and start-up of a renovated production line, including operational and performance qualification within an IQ/OQ/PQ framework
Develop and execute commissioning protocols, test plans, and acceptance criteria in collaboration with project engineers, equipment vendors, and internal stakeholders
Travel to the CM site to support equipment set-up, process trials, and line qualification
Identify and resolve process deviations, yield issues, and equipment reliability problems during start-up and ramp
Develop and standardize work instructions across product lines, improving consistency and repeatability as the processes mature
Resolve film quality concerns on customer programs; participate in root-cause analysis investigation and eliminate recurring quality concerns
Drive new product scale-up from late-stage development through production trials, resolving process gaps and equipment constraints to hit first-pass yield, throughput and quality targets
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering along with 5+ years of experience OR 10+ years of progressive experience without a degree.
3+ years in film or roll-to-roll conversion, with direct experience commissioning production lines or transferring processes to contract manufacturers
Ability to work independently on processing equipment
Willingness to travel up to 50% during heavy workload periods to support contract manufacturing scale-up
Ability to write clear, structured, technical documentation (work instructions, product routings, and product specifications)
Experience working with external processing vendors/toll processing
Ability to learn, apply, and expand technical knowledge around film, plastics and the capacitor industry
Bi-axial Film Stretching
Experience with NetSuite ERP
Experience interfacing directly with external vendors, Sales, and/or Customers
Lean/Six Sigma Certifications
New product scale-up and commercialization experience
Experience working in a cross-functional team environment
