Job description

The Manufacturing Manager is responsible for leading a three-shift, 24/7 manufacturing operation consisting of two extrusion lines and transitioning the operation from an R&D environment into disciplined, repeatable commercial production. This role establishes standard work, shift routines, effective handoffs, process controls, training, documentation, and performance expectations. The manager leads technicians and shift leaders to safely deliver the production schedule while maintaining a strong focus on product quality, first-pass yield, traceability, and on-time completion.

The Manufacturing Manager establishes and charts key operating metrics, including throughput, yield, downtime, scrap, schedule attainment, and equipment performance, and uses this data to drive accountability and continuous improvement. The role also owns planned and preventive maintenance coordination, critical spare-parts readiness, and consumables tracking for both extrusion lines and supporting equipment. Working closely with R&D, engineering, quality, maintenance, supply chain, and program management, the manager resolves production constraints, implements lasting corrective actions, and builds the systems and team capabilities required for reliable commercial-scale manufacturing.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, operations management, or a related technical field, or equivalent relevant manufacturing experience
  • 7+ years of progressive manufacturing experience, including 3 years leading technicians, operators, or shift supervisors in a multi-shift operation
  • Demonstrated experience managing extrusion operations in a high-volume, continuous-process manufacturing environment. Thin-film extrusion experience is strongly preferred
  • Proven ability to implement standard work, production metrics, shift accountability, and structured continuous-improvement practices
  • Working knowledge of preventive maintenance, equipment reliability, critical-spares management, and consumables inventory controls
  • Strong quality and problem-solving background, including process control, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, yield improvement, and reduction of scrap and rework
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience transitioning a process or production line from R&D, pilot-scale, or early-stage manufacturing into repeatable commercial production
  • Experience managing continuous-process manufacturing; extrusion, film, coating, web handling, or polymer-processing experience
