Job summary

Micro is seeking a Process Engineer II to ensure manufacturing processes are efficient, cost-effective, and meet quality standards. This role focuses on process improvement, optimization of production cycles and equipment automation, and transitioning products from development to production through qualification and stabilization.

You will lead continuous improvement projects, perform DOEs, validations, and establish metrics.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field required.
  • 3–5 years of engineering experience required.
  • Ability to synthesize complex or diverse information.
  • Experience with blueprint reading including GD&T, SPC, MSA, and DOE.
  • Statistical software and ERP experience required.
  • Experience in equipment automation, robotic programming, metal fabrication, or medical device manufacturing preferred.
  • Proficient with data analysis, statistics, and applied mathematics.

  • Provide input for new product equipment selection, installation, and maintenance.

Process Engineer II

Responsible for ensuring manufacturing processes are efficient, cost‑effective, meet Micro’s quality standards, and produce products per customer specifications.

Process Improvement
  • Improves product quality by reducing process variability.
  • Develops and optimizes continuous production and manufacturing processes to achieve output, quality, and cost goals.
  • Optimizes production cycle time and equipment automation (including robotic programs) to maximize capacity, utilization, and quality.
  • Supports execution of transition processes and knowledge transfer from New Product Development to Production through qualification and stabilization processes.
  • Leads continuous improvement projects from concept development to execution, including conducting DOEs, performing validations, executing implementations, and developing metrics to monitor efficiencies.
  • Supports lean manufacturing projects such as Six Sigma, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), DMAIC, Kanban, and compliance with Electronic Work Instruction (EWI) principles.
  • Develops improvements to current manufacturing methods and processes.
  • Recommends changes or upgrades to equipment, work methods, or other aspects of the process to improve efficiency and utilization of labor, energy, and raw materials.
  • Reads blueprints and aligns manufacturing processes to drive improvements and troubleshoot difficult and complicated issues effectively.
  • Reduces product waste, improving utilization of capital equipment, cost of quality, and optimizing productivity.
  • Ensures that sampling plans are reviewed upon changes to the product, process, or project.
  • Provides engineering support in determining root cause and works with Quality Engineers to develop appropriate corrective actions.
  • Provides input to production systems and designs control activities.
  • Provides input for new product equipment selection, installation, and maintenance.
  • Maintains subject‑matter expertise in specific areas and understands complex automated machine operations.
  • Supports the development of tooling and processes.
  • Leads projects, teams, and complex product transitions, providing mentorship and support to team members.
Process Analysis & Documentation
  • Responsible for production KPI management (scrap rate, SPC score, equipment downtime and uptime, product cycle time, machine utilization).
  • Develops and controls Working Standards: Product Structure and Routes, Working Instruction, Procedures, Training Matrix/Modules.
  • Leads required process qualification planning and execution.
  • Acts as an SME conducting RCAs, focusing on customer quality and delivery demand, applying problem‑solving and process improvement, and increasing customer satisfaction.
  • Collects production data and applies standard scientific and statistical methods to analyze, document, and diagram production processes; conducts FMEA, DOE, and SPC analysis.
  • Uses appropriate statistical techniques to analyze data and make/recommend decisions.
  • Performs complex data analysis and uses Six Sigma tools to resolve complex process issues.
  • Writes detailed work‑instruction level documents for manufacturing operations and related areas; trains personnel in these instructions and other technical process controls.
  • Develops and documents process operational standards, including identification and deployment of statistical process control opportunities.
  • Develops all aspects of product and process to improve functionality and launch new products.
  • Communicates and cooperates with others outside of department boundaries to influence success.
  • Accurately documents and records necessary data and reports to describe scope of work for sustaining and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Resolves problems and anticipates evolutionary changes in customer requirements, providing corresponding changes in process capability.
  • Provides equipment design and specifications, including project justification documentation for cost and quality impact.
  • Quarantines, documents, and evaluates products and materials and generates Material Review Board (MRB) cases as appropriate.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field is required.
  • 3–5 years of engineering experience is required.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to synthesize complex or diverse information.
  • Must have experience with blueprint reading including GD&T, SPC, MSA (GR&R), and DOE.
  • Must have statistical software and ERP experience.
  • Experience in equipment automation and robotic programming, metal fabrication, or medical device manufacturing is strongly preferred.
  • Proficient with data analysis, statistics, and applied mathematics.
