Job summary

Duke Energy’s IGCC facility near Edwardsport, Indiana seeks a Process Engineer to oversee daily process equipment, perform troubleshooting, and implement maintenance practices aligned with Process Safety Management. Open to December2026 graduates.

The role emphasizes reliability and safety in a multi-fuel generating environment. The candidate will review process data, work with operations and maintenance teams, and contribute to engineering studies and reports while ensuring compliance with EH&S

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering obtained from an ABET accredited program, OR a Master’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering in lieu of a Bachelor of Science in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of engineering experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical assistance/troubleshooting in resolving design, operation and maintenance problems and contact internal and external experts as required.
  • Review of data such as flow, pressure, and temperature, to ensure appropriate process conditions are being met.
  • Work within a team environment to provide support of plant equipment.
  • Provide troubleshooting in the field with both operations and maintenance to identify and resolve issues.
  • Model Environmental, Health, and Safety principles, focus on unit availability and reliability, and develop simple engineering solutions to complex problems.
  • Prepare various professional reports and documents such as specifications, calculations, procedures, and equipment evaluations.
  • Conduct engineering and related studies.
  • Strive to continually improve job-related, technical, engineering, and professional knowledge, skills and performance.
  • Participation in Process Safety Management activities such as management of change, process hazard analyses, and incident investigations.
