Job summary
Jensen Metal Products invites entry-level Process Engineer I to join our Racine, WI team. You will work with Production, Quality, Planning, Purchasing, and Maintenance to enhance safety, quality, and on-time delivery across laser cutting, forming, welding, finishing, and assembly.
You'll troubleshoot issues, support new product introductions, and drive continuous improvement with guidance from seasoned teammates in a family-owned environment that values development and teamwork.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering preferred
- Recent graduate or up to 3 years in manufacturing/process engineering
- Hands-on manufacturing internship/co-op preferred
- Experience with sheet metal fabrication and welding is a plus
- CAD proficiency preferred (SolidWorks)
- Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 and data analysis
- ERP/MRP familiarity is beneficial
- Knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma and 5S is a plus
Responsibilities
- Support daily manufacturing operations and troubleshoot issues
- Develop efficient manufacturing methods for new and existing products
- Evaluate processes and propose improvements to increase throughput and reduce waste
- Assist with press brake forming, welding, grinding, and assembly processes
- Create and maintain routings and BOMs
- Develop work instructions and SOPs
- Participate in root cause investigations and CAPAs
- Support product launches and engineering transfers

The Process Engineer I supports manufacturing operations by developing, improving, and sustaining production processes throughout the sheet metal fabrication operation. This entry‑level engineering position partners closely with Production, Quality, Planning, Purchasing, and Maintenance to improve safety, quality, productivity, and on‑time delivery.
The Process Engineer I assists with troubleshooting manufacturing issues, implementing engineering changes, supporting new product introductions, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across laser cutting, forming, welding, finishing, and assembly operations.
- Support daily manufacturing operations by troubleshooting production and quality issues
- Assist in developing efficient manufacturing methods for new and existing products
- Evaluate production processes and recommend improvements that increase throughput and reduce waste
- Support fabrication processes including:
- Press brake forming
- Welding (MIG, TIG, robotic)
- Hardware insertion
- Grinding and finishing
- Mechanical assembly
- Participate in root cause investigations and corrective actions for production issues
- Create and maintain manufacturing routings and Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- Develop and revise work instructions and standard operating procedures
- Process Engineering Change Notices (ECNs)
- Maintain engineering documentation within the ERP system
- Review customer drawings for manufacturability (DFM)
- Assist with prototype builds and first article production
- Support product launches and engineering transfers into production
- Collaborate with Sales and Customer Service to resolve technical questions
- Participate in Lean Manufacturing and 5S initiatives
- Analyze production metrics to identify opportunities for improved efficiency
- Recommend tooling, fixture, or process improvements that reduce cycle time and improve quality
- Support corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
- Assist with nonconforming material investigations
- Ensure manufacturing processes comply with company quality standards and customer specifications
- Support ISO 9001 quality system requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering discipline, preferred but not required
- Recent college graduate or up to three (3) years of experience in a manufacturing engineering, process engineering, or production engineering role
- Manufacturing internship, co‑op, or other hands‑on engineering experience preferred
- Experience in sheet metal fabrication, welding, laser cutting, CNC machining, press brake operations, or metal forming is preferred but not required
- Working knowledge of CAD preferred SolidWorks
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, including Excel (formulas, PivotTables, and data analysis), Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems is preferred
- Familiarity with manufacturing documentation including engineering drawings, bills of material (BOMs), routers, work instructions, and engineering change orders (ECOs)
- Basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, continuous improvement, and root cause problem‑solving methodologies is preferred
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and manufacturing specifications

- Sit, stand, walk, bend, and move throughout office and manufacturing environments
- Regularly use a computer and review drawings, specifications, and production data
- Occasionally lift and carry materials or equipment up to 25 pounds
- Ability to wear required PPE and work safely in production areas
