Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
  • 1 year of semiconductor assembly experience preferred.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Explores cost and cycle time reductions and reports to senior engineers.

The Process Engineer I supports the development and documentation of manufacturing techniques, materials, tools, and processes related to back-end semiconductor assembly. This role assists in routine process evaluations, basic troubleshooting, and data collection to improve equipment performance and product yield under close supervision.

Responsibilities
  • Establishes and maintains high yielding, cost effective processes based on product need and customer requirements with guidance.
  • Approaches and problem solving methodologies are utilized to accomplish department goals.
  • Continuously explores opportunities for cost and cycle time reductions and provides feedback to more senior engineers.
  • Sources and recommends tooling that is congruent with Rochester’s production and financial needs with oversight. Collects data for Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Assists in executing basic Design of Experiments (DOE) for process optimization utilizing appropriate statistical analysis software, such as JMP, Minitab, Excel Statistics, or equivalent.
  • Supports the creation and maintenance of Process Control Plans and FMEAs
  • Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
  • May present yield and manufacturing indices to senior engineers with guidance and feedback.
  • Refers to 5S practices, 8D problem solving, and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Participates on cross-functional project teams.
  • Understands safety protocols and reducing workplace risks.
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
  • 1 year of semiconductor assembly experience, preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Ability to work within a team as well as lead a team in a fast-paced, changing environment.
    • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at all levels in the organization.
    • Ability to work independently with guidance.
    • Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office® software suite.
    • Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.
    • Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as sharp attention to detail.
