Job summary

Rochester Electronics, LLC is seeking a Customer Quality Engineering Technician to serve as the first contact for post-shipment quality issues, coordinating investigation and corrective actions while liaising with customers and suppliers.

The role requires strong problem-solving, organization, and communication skills, with experience in semiconductor manufacturing and ISO 9001 standards. A collaborative, fast-paced environment is expected.

Qualifications

  • Requires a degree in Electrical Engineering or 2-4 years of related experience in the areas of semiconductor manufacturing, product engineering, production control, packaging, and/or quality engineering.
  • Must be well-organized, self-directed, a self-starter, highly motivated, a proactive problem solver with the ability to get results without owning resources and possessing direct authority.
  • Experience in semiconductor manufacturing and qualification processes, as well as reliability procedures, semiconductor assembly/packaging, and testing.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Familiarity with JEDEC and AEC-Q100/Q101 as well as ISO 9001 standards.
  • Familiar and experienced with problem-solving methodologies such as 8D and 5WHYs.
  • Strong English communication skills – written and verbal – are needed as well as an ability to work comfortably across organizational boundaries to drive change and influence actions without direct authority.

Responsibilities

  • Helps coordinate root cause identification, corrective actions, and preventive actions of product quality issues resulting from manufacturing processes (Assembly/Test Sites) or prepares failure analysis (8D) reports.
  • Represents quality regarding customer returns and making the necessary transactions in the ERP system.
  • Part of the CQE organization that acts as a quality representative to external customers, responsible for continually improving the customer's valuation of the Quality experienced from us with any product or service, beginning with new product development through product end-of-life.
  • Provides technical liaison with customers, failure analysis labs, factories, and suppliers, as well as frequent technical support of sales and marketing.
  • Supports customer inquiries through email and other organizational applications.
  • Frequently interacts with customers, functional managers, and engineers in all disciplines. These interactions often are about potential, real, or perceived customer quality or reliability concerns arising from technical, administrative , or logistical events.
  • Addresses package-related quality and reliability issues at customers' or REI assembly sites.
  • Serves as the QA Contact for distribution personnel on current processes and provides practical directions to continually improve the distribution operations
  • Performs customer specification reviews and consolidates inputs from various other functions.
  • Participates in customer and supplier interface opportunities
  • Participates as a member of Continuous Improvement Teams
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Brief Description

The Customer Quality Engineering Technician is a critical role within REI's Quality organization. This role will have frequent direct contact with customers and are the first point of contact when product quality issues arise after shipment.
