Process Engineer (Heat Treatment) - Automotive Parts Manufacturer (35111)

An automotive parts manufacturer in Pendleton, IN is searching for a Heat Treatment Engineer to lead development of induction heat treatment manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will have a background in metallurgy or materials engineering with hands-on experience in an industrial manufacturing position.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement engineering processes related to heating and tempering metal, including testing recipes and equipment for points of failure.
• Create high-quality process documentation.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with induction heating equipment and coil design.
• Change programs to accommodate customer requirements.
• Act as Technical Lead to Engineering Technicians.
• Communicate production requirements, including time, staffing, space, and cost estimation.
• Interact with vendors to determine appropriate specifications and purchase equipment.
• Complete initial start-up installation of equipment, including traveling for machine validation.
• Work within tight tolerances.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Metallurgy preferred, or equivalent.
• 3 years of experience with induction heating equipment in an engineering capacity.
• Knowledge of metallurgical testing procedures.
• Ability to work hands-on.
• Experience with CAD software and blueprints.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Ability to organize, communicate technical information to, and collaborate with others.

This position includes working in a manufacturing and/or warehousing work environment. While performing the duties of this job you may be required to intermittently sit, stand, walk, lift up to 25 pounds, lift in excess of 25 pounds with a lift assist, climb stairs, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend at the waist, talk and hear. You may also be required to use close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision.
