Job summary

Solenis is seeking a Process Engineer to support commissioning and startup of a new plant on-site in the Suffolk, VA area. The role requires developing commissioning plans, participating in trainings, and creating operations documents while ensuring safe work practices and on-track delivery.

The ideal candidate holds a BS in Chemical Engineering with 3+ years in chemical process design or regulated manufacturing, and brings hands-on experience with PFDs, P&IDs, PILs, and process safety programs

Qualifications

  • BS degree in Chemical Engineering required.
  • 3+ years' experience in chemical process design or regulated chemical manufacturing.
  • Experience with PSM/RMP and site safety programs.

Responsibilities

  • Assist commissioning and startup activities on the new plant, including commissioning plans, trainings, documents and safe work practices.
  • Troubleshoot process and equipment operability/quality issues, identify root causes, and implement solutions.
  • Monitor operations to identify safety, regulatory, quality, efficiency, throughput, and cost improvements.
  • Provide process engineering support for capital/expense projects with mass/energy balances, PFDs, P&IDs, PILs, and sizing.
  • Optimize throughput and costs focusing on waste minimization, energy use, cycle time and asset effectiveness.
  • Participate in / lead RCA investigations, MOC, PSSRs, and PHAs.
  • Collaborate with operators, maintenance, and chemists to support production requirements.
  • Actively involved in EHS processes including PSM/RMP and site audits.
  • Participate in a rotating on-call schedule for off-hours support.
