Job description

Job Title: Cold End Process Engineer Level:

Reports To: Cold End Manager Location: Rossford

Department: Cold End Employees Supervised: 0

Purpose:

The Cold End Process Engineer is responsible for managing the process and equipment associated with the production area and case closure. The main objective is to develop systems to continually improve the process/product and work with the team to implement these systems. The Process Engineer is responsible and accountable for managing all aspects of the operation with respect to the areas of responsibility.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop systems to consistently communicate expectations and priorities to the Cold End Shift Leaders and hourly employees on a daily basis. Follow up to ensure all expectations are met.
  • Monitor process and operational performance and implement systems to improve performance. Utilize the 8-Step problem solving process to continually improve performance.
  • Train and assess Stacker and On-line operators in standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure SOP content is current and operators understand SOPs.
  • Assist in the commissioning of new plant equipment and other systems to ensure that the introduction into the production facility is handled efficiently and with minimum disruption to the operation.
  • Work with the Cold End and Shift TPMC to ensure that all maintenance work is completed as required to meet or exceed Cold End performance targets.
  • Interface with Materials Scheduler - to develop priorities and ensure that all scheduling and manning requirements are met to meet or exceed performance targets.
  • Ensure that all activities related to the Cold End are performed in a safe manner. Pro-actively address all unsafe conditions. Properly investigate all safety incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Establish and maintain a 5S system for the Cold End. Work with Cold End Shift Leaders and hourly employees to ensure plant housekeeping meets or exceeds standards.
  • Support a two-float line operation, engaging in processes related to both float lines.
  • All other duties assigned.

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or applicable glass manufacturing experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, coaching and communication skills.
  • Ability to facilitate groups in an employee involvement environment.
  • Basic computer skills- Excel, Word, PowerPoint; SPC knowledge is desired.
  • Excellent planning & organizational skills

Qualifications Desired:

  • 1-3 years glass manufacturing experience
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Self-motivated individual
  • Must be able to multi-task and work well under pressure.
  • Demonstrated ability in innovative, developmental, and results-oriented competencies.

Salary Range $83,211 - $114,120
