Job summary

LHH is seeking a Process Engineer for a Direct Hire, permanent placement with a precision machining client located in Indianapolis, IN. You will serve as the process expert responsible for developing production strategies, selecting manufacturing methods, and partnering with engineering and operations teams to ensure components are produced efficiently, accurately, and profitably.

The compensation is commensurate to experience and will range between $110,000-140,000 per year plus quarterly

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering preferred.
• Minimum 5+ years manufacturing/process engineering experience in a manufacturing facility.
• 3+ years CNC machining operations (milling, turning, EDM).
• Experience deriving processes from engineering drawings/CAD models and routing planning.
• Experience with low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environments.
• Experience selecting materials, tooling, and equipment.
• Experience with prototype/developmental or custom-engineered products.
• Must be detail-oriented, organized, and process-driven.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Review drawings to determine manufacturing methods.
• Develop routings for custom components.
• Define machining sequences and workflows for complex parts.
• Select materials, tooling, and equipment for production.
• Estimate setup and cycle times and labor needs.
• Collaborate with CNC programmers to optimize strategies.
• Support execution of customer projects.
• Create and maintain process documentation and instructions.
• Analyze historical data to improve estimates.
• Resolve scheduling and manufacturing challenges.
• Assist with tooling recommendations and procurement.
• Act as liaison between engineering and manufacturing.
• Promote best practices and process consistency.
• Support prototype and development manufacturing activities.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
