Job summary

Nutrien is seeking a Chemical Process Engineer to provide technical leadership across diverse projects in Aurora, NC. You will guide technicians and collaborate with cross-functional teams from concept to commercialization, developing formulations and documenting all steps for compliant manufacturing.

Requirements include a BS in Chemical Engineering and 5+ years in chemical processing, with strong data analysis, communication, and MS Office proficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering is required.
• 5+ years of experience in chemical processing.
• Comprehensive knowledge in product/process development, laboratory techniques, pilot plant equipment operations and opportunities for improvements.
• Strong foundation in chemistry and mathematics.
• Excellent project, problem solving and time management skills.
• Excellent research knowledge with ability to statistically analyze data.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Proficiency in oral and written communication.
• Proficiency in Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Experience in agricultural chemical manufacturing is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership to research and/or develop systems, products, or processes for various projects.
• Guide Process Development technicians and consultants as needed.
• Apply scientific/engineering principles for research and continuous improvement across product development and manufacturing.
• Manage projects and coordinate with cross-functional groups from concept to commercialization.
• Document batch records, production instructions, validation and stability protocols for new products.
• Coordinate with Quality Assurance to ensure documentation, COA, cleaning requirements and SOP validations.
• Develop formulations and processes for new or optimized products; coordinate bench-top to manufacturing scale-up.
• Maintain records of development projects.
• Prepare raw material and bulk specifications, SOPs, batch records and technology transfer documents.
• Conduct research to develop new or improved manufacturing processes.
• Develop safety procedures for handling dangerous chemicals.
• Assist in equipment layout design and planning.
• Test and monitor process performance during production.
• Troubleshoot manufacturing process issues.
• Support chemical plant processes and operations.
• Evaluate equipment for safety/environmental compliance.
• Assist in maintaining the site's Quality Management System.
• Collaborate with customers, Nutrien Sales and plant operations to remediate product quality concerns.
