MISSION / SUMMARY:

This developmental role will result in multiple assignments throughout the Vancouver and Gresham Carton Plants and will provide technical support within the assigned departments. This position will work closely with assigned mentors to develop and implement best practices to improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost reduction.

The successful candidate will provide support for process improvement projects including, but not limited to, support for trials and investigations of new technologies. This position will support the Vancouver and Gresham Carton Plants Key Performance Indicators (KPI) management system as required. This will include updating operator rounds, auditing of operations for out-of-range process variables and working with management and hourly employees to correct out of range KPI’s.

Drive best practices in safe operations and ensure the safety of all operations, maintenance and staff personnel. Must be a self-starter, self-directed, take initiative to move forward with ideas, be committed and able to work with and influence others. Must learn quickly andanalyzethe data.

JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.

  • Review daily production and quality data,analyzesproduction and operation issues.
  • Responsibilities include implementing manufacturing processes, troubleshooting process, equipment issues, data collection and analysis.
  • Manage trials, identify process improvements.
  • Assist key personnel in outage planning and operational scheduling.
  • Analyzeweekly and monthly process trends.
  • Monitors departmental cost, develop capital project scope and budget.
  • Training of hourly and salary personnel, reviews work and vacation schedules.
  • Assist in the preparation of yearly cost and production budgets.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required- Chemical Engineering, or Pulp & Paper Science, or other engineering discipline.

SKILLS:

  • SAP Business Software Knowledge preferred
  • Effective written and verbal communications skills
  • Proficient computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Office Software, Excel, Word and Outlook
  • The incumbent must provide strong leadership and teamwork to ensure safe and efficient operations

SCHEDULE DEMANDS:

  • General schedule is an M-F assignment, with rotating weekend/night call coverage. Employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so. Schedule includes weekend rotation coverage.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Sitting or standing for extended periods up to 8+-hours.
  • Occasional Lifting up to 20 lbs.
  • Wear PPE when required: Hard Hat, safety glasses, hearing protection etc.
  • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
  • Use of various office hand and electrical tools or equipment.
  • Confined space entry of equipment and vessels during outages.
  • Walking down all process areas and equipment.

Pay Range: $65,025.00-$86,700.00
