Job summary

Pentagon Technologies, Inc. in Mesa, AZ is seeking a Process Engineer to join our team. This role leads new part and process introduction and manages engineering change control to support Operations.

A strong candidate will be resourceful, able to make decisions, and demonstrate professional project management and communication skills in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in a related STEM field (Chemical, Mechanical, Manufacturing preferred).
  • Minimum 2 years in an engineering role.
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills; spreadsheet and DB management; strong statistical reasoning.
  • ASQ/Six Sigma or Lean certification a plus; ISO9001 lead auditor training preferred; JMP experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily engineering support to production to ensure safety, quality, and timely delivery.
  • Lead installation and qualification of new equipment and analytical instruments.
  • Interface with customers to lead new parts and process development and qualification projects.
  • Support audits and drive customer satisfaction initiatives to closure.
  • Develop and qualify chemical processes, mechanical designs, or robotic programs.
  • Perform DFMEA/PFMEA risk assessments and maintain process control plans.
  • Interpret prints for precision cleaning, surface enhancement, and measurement processes.
  • Train staff on procedures and define equipment/metrology operations and maintenance plans.
  • Maintain process control plans and deploy SPC and MSA studies for improvements.
  • Disposition nonconforming materials and establish inspection criteria per QMS.

Job Summary

Pentagon Technologies is looking for a Process Engineer to join our team in Mesa, AZ. This is a key customer-facing technical position which leads new part and process introduction and manages engineering change control processes to support Operations. A strong candidate is resourceful, is able to make decisions and problem solve independently, is professional and organized in a fast-paced environment with strong project management and communication skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Include The Following, But Not Limited To
  • Daily engineering assistance to production to facilitate safety, quality, and delivery of orders to Customers
  • Responsible for leading new equipment and analytical instrument installation and qualification
  • Interface with Customers routinely to lead new part and process development and qualification projects
  • Support external and internal audits providing technical expertise - Support Customer Satisfaction initiatives and escalations to successful closure
  • Process development of chemical processes, mechanical designs, and/or robotic programs
  • Perform product and process risk assessment activities, including Design/Process Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (DFMEA/PFMEA)
  • Interpret and develop prints and documents for implementation of precision cleaning, surface enhancement (Grit blast, Twin Wire Arc Spray, and other plasma thermal coatings), and measurement processes which meet customer requirements
  • Performing technical training of internal staff to ensure compliance to precision cleaning and surface enhancement procedures as well as defining equipment/metrology operations and maintenance plans
  • Updating and maintaining Process Control Plans to control variation in outgoing quality parameters on customer owned materials
  • Deploy and manage Statistical Process Control programs, Measurement System Analysis studies per Process Control Plans; review data for process improvements; establishing response flows to timely response to trends
  • Disposition nonconforming materials and products, developing and documenting inspection criteria based on customer and internal Quality System requirements
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in related STEM field (Chemical, Mechanical, Manufacturing engineering preferred)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in an engineering role
  • Excellent analytical and advanced mathematical skills; spreadsheet and database management skills; strong general computer and statistical reasoning skills - ASQ Certification, Six Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing certification a plus
  • ISO9001 lead auditor training/certification preferred - JMP experience a plus
Safety

Employee will be trained in, and is to follow and lead by example, all general safety requirements of Pentagon Technologies as well as specific safety regulatory requirements.

Work Environment

Must be able to work in a group environment and be a self-starter. Must be able to work in a controlled arsenic environment. Must be able to perform in noisy, moist, or wet, and hazardous materials environments with standard protection devices. Must be able to handle necessary tools to perform tasks, including manual and mechanized material handling equipment for moving heavy loads through the production environment with little assistance. Must be able to work in a controlled chemical environment. Persons who are sensitive to chemical environments with such medical conditions as asthma, allergies, or extreme sensitivity to chemicals may not be considered as good candidates for this position.

Physical Demands

Must pass Company required screening tests. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand, reach with hands and arms, and frequently lift, carry or otherwise move and position objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
