Job summary

The Fountain Group is seeking a Manufacturing / Process Engineer for a prominent client, located onsite in Richmond, VA. The role focuses on analyzing operations and designing/launching production lines spanning manual to automated systems.

You will apply Lean Six Sigma, 5S, PFEP, and Kanban to cut waste and improve processes, while developing SOPs and work instructions. Travel is occasional and travel-ready candidates are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, industrial, manufacturing or a related engineering field is required.
• 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, process, or industrial engineering is required.
• Hands-on experience designing and launching manual, semi-automated, and automated production lines is required.
• Proven expertise in Lean Six Sigma, 5S, Kanban, and PFEP implementation is required.
• Ability to define labor routings, takt and cycle-time analysis, and author SOPs/Work Instructions is required.
• AutoCAD proficiency for facility/line layouts is required.
• Willingness to travel domestically ~10-15% as needed is required.

Responsibilities

• Analyse operations and design/launch manual, semi-automated, and automated production lines.
• Define work phase sequences, labor routings, cycle times, and line balancing to meet costs and targets.
• Create comprehensive technical documentation including SOPs and Work Instructions.
• Apply Lean Six Sigma, 5S, PFEP, and Kanban to reduce waste and variation.
• Support internal and external equipment start-ups and train production/maintenance staff.
• Evaluate and test new process technologies to drive productivity and quality increases.

The Fountain Groupis a national staffing firm and weare currently seeking a Manufacturing / Process Engineerfor a prominent client of ours. This position is located in Richmond, VA 23231.

Job Details:

• Pay: $40.00-50.00/hour based on experience!!
• 12 months contract, with potential for extension/conversion based on performance and budget.
• 100% Onsite; daytime business hours (approximately 10-15% domestic travel required).
• Position will be mainly responsible for analysing operations and designing/launching manual, semi-automated, and automated production and assembly lines.
• Position will be responsible for defining working phase sequences, labor routings, cycle times, and line balancing to meet targeted product costs and production targets.
• Position will be responsible for creating comprehensive technical documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions, and ABRAs.
• Position will be responsible for applying Lean Six Sigma, 5S, PFEP (Plan for Every Part), and Kanban methodologies to reduce waste and process variation.
• Position will be responsible for supporting internal and external equipment start-ups, defining action plans, and training relevant production and maintenance personnel.
• Position will be responsible for evaluating and testing new process technologies to drive productivity, quality improvements, and cost reduction.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related Engineering field is Required!
• 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, process, or industrial engineering is Required!
• Hands-on experience designing and launching manual, semi-automated, and automated production lines is Required!
• Proven expertise in Lean Six Sigma, 5S, Kanban, and PFEP implementation is Required!
• Demonstrated ability to define labor routings, conduct takt/cycle-time analysis, and author SOPs/Work Instructions is Required!
• Proficiency with AutoCAD for facility/line layouts is Required!
• Willingness and ability to travel domestically approximately 10-15% as needed is Required!
• Experience with simulation software (FlexSim, Plant Simulation, Arena, Simio, or AnyLogic) is Preferred!
• Experience utilizing SAP or similar ERP systems is Preferred!
• Experience with 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks is Preferred!
