General Motors is seeking a Manufacturing Process Engineer in Warren, Michigan. This role involves developing manufacturing processes and providing technical direction for production equipment and tooling.
The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field and possess at least two years of relevant experience, including expertise in Lean principles and project management. The position requires travel to client sites across the country, approximately 80% of the time.
Responsible for assisting in developing manufacturing processes, equipment and tooling alternatives, sequence, and flow of operations for the effective utilization of personnel, material, machines, and facilities necessary for production of parts and assemblies. Responsible for executing sequence of operations and manufacturing process definition. Design, construction, integration, plant installation, successful launch, and continuous improvement of equipment and tools required in plants for production of high-quality assemblies. Provide technical direction to and oversight of outside vendor sources. Development and testing of advanced process technology. Developing technical knowledge and ability to implement Lean principles. Demonstrate strong analytical ability, communication, and interpersonal skills required to build relationships with team members and customers to solve problems and resolve issues. Demonstrate ability to manage projects and assignments with autonomy and accountability for results and demonstrate ability in project management skills. 80% travel required to client sites nationwide.
Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or related fields. Employer will accept one (1) year of related experience in lieu of one (1) year of education. Two (2) years of experience as an Advanced Mfg Specialist, NPP Programs & AVD Studies Coordinator, Mfg Engineering Body Systems Controller, Mfg Engineering Body Process Engineer, Mfg Engineering Intern, or related occupation. Two (2) years of experience with Manufacturing processes including welding, dispense, and throughput; Body shop tooling vendor experience; Design for manufacturing with new product launches; Teamcenter Visualization; and Autodesk Design Review or AutoCAD 3D.
