Job summary

Socket.dev seeks a Process Engineer to optimize EV battery production productivity and sustainability through advanced process knowledge and recipe alignment. The role emphasizes PD improvement via process capability management and high‑quality defect reduction based on equipment understanding.

The engineer will analyze OEE, troubleshoot with engineers and operators, and develop SOPs to train floor staff while ensuring strict health, safety, and environmental compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering required; MS preferred or equivalent experience.
  • 1+ years of production technology or related experience.
  • Six Sigma knowledge and practical quality improvement experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze productivity, yield, and OEE of the assigned process.
  • Troubleshoot machines with engineers and operators to maximize yield.
  • Develop SOPs and train operators for correct floor implementation.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and fire regulations.
  • Lead PFMEA/CP updates and process capability studies.
  • Drive chronic defect reduction and 4M change verification.
  • Conduct internal and customer audits; handle non‑conformances.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in engineering
MS degree preferred

Job description

Summary: The Process Engineer will participate in optimizing productivity and sustainability of EV battery production through high level of technical knowledge while ensuring stable mass production quality & PD improvement through recipe setting, spec aligning, process capability management, and high-quality defect improvement based on a technical understanding of the process and equipment. Responsibilities:

  • Analyze productivity, yield and overall equipment efficiency (OEE) of assigned process and department
  • Work with engineers and operators to troubleshoot machines to ensure highest yield and OEE
  • Analyze Quality issues to provide corrective actions
  • Improve production processes by creating various SOPs and train operators to ensure understanding and correct implementation to floor
  • Compliance with health/safety/environmental/ fire regulations
  • Spec. optimization and process conditions establishment
  • PFD: process flow diagram, PFMEA: process failure mode and effects analysis, CP: control plan
  • Chronic defect improvement activities
  • Production/development model dissemination and 4M change verification
  • Conducting internal and customer audits
  • Non-conformance report handling and improvement
  • Response to internal/external quality issues for the customer
  • Establishment and revision of PFD, PF Manual
  • Maintain cleanliness at worksite in accordance with 5S3R Standards: Sort, set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain, Right Location, Right Quantity, Right Container
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering required, MS preferred, or equivalent, relevant experience

Experience:

  • 1+ years of experience in production technology related job or equivalent, relevant experience
  • Internship or co-op experience in manufacturing or industrial environment will be considered in lieu of full-time experience

Work Authorization:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to properly and regularly utilize the following PPE for a period of up to12 hours:

  • Safety glasses
  • Steel-toed shoes
  • Nitrile gloves
  • Ear protection
  • Cleanroom suit

Must be able to perform the following activities repeatedly for periods of up to 12 hours:

  • Lift, push, and pull materials or equipment
  • Stoop, twist, and bend
  • Reach overhead
  • Sit and/or stand for extended periods
  • Use hands and fingers to operate tools, equipment, and computer systems

Work Environment:

  • Work may involve handling or working in proximity to hazardous materials and regulated industrial chemicals.
  • Exposure to chemical vapors, dust, or other controlled substances may occur depending on process assignment.
  • Strict adherence to company safety policies and OSHA Hazard Communication requirements is mandatory.
  • Employees must properly wear and maintain assigned personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times within designated areas.
  • Required PPE may include respirators, chemical-resistant garments, gloves, eye protection, face shields, or other equipment determined by process and risk assessment.
