Job summary

viaPhoton in Naperville, IL is seeking a manufacturing engineer to own fiber optic production processes, designing, optimizing, and scaling manufacturing. This role suits a new grad or early-career engineer who will run experiments, solve root causes, and support field deployments.

You will travel up to 10% to data centers, work onsite five days a week, and collaborate with product development and quality teams in a fast-growing environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field; 1+ year experience, new grads welcome.
• Proficient with CAD software, SolidWorks preferred (academic use acceptable).
• Proficient with dimensional measurements, GD&T, calibration, and data analysis using statistical tools.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving with attention to detail.
• Familiar with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement; bilingual Spanish is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize manufacturing processes for fiber optic products.
• Plan and run tests, experiments, and DOEs, using data to improve processes.
• Troubleshoot equipment and processes to minimize downtime, and manage calibration, setup, and maintenance.
• Guide continuous improvement and support new product introduction with product development and quality teams.
• Provide occasional field support, including travel to data centers (10% travel).

About the Role

You'll own the manufacturing processes behind our fiber optic products, designing, optimizing, and improving the way we produce at scale. This is the natural step up from our Process Technician role and a great fit for a new grad or early-career engineer. You'll run experiments, solve problems at the root, guide continuous improvement, and even get out to some of the world's most advanced data centers to see where our fiber lands.

• Design, develop, and optimize manufacturing processes for new and existing fiber optic products
• Plan and run tests, experiments, and designed experiments (DOEs), using data to improve processes
• Troubleshoot equipment and processes to minimize downtime, and manage calibration, setup, and maintenance
• Guide continuous improvement and support new product introduction with product development and quality teams
• Provide occasional field support, including the chance to step inside some of the world's most advanced data centers (10% travel)

What You'll Bring

• Have a bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field (1+ years of experience, and new grads are welcome)
• Have experience with CAD software, SolidWorks preferred (academic use is fine)
• Are proficient with dimensional measurements, GD&T, calibration, and working with process data using statistical tools
• Bring strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with careful attention to detail
• Are familiar with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methods; bilingual Spanish is a bonus

$60,000 -$70,000 base + annual bonus
