Job summary

Flex is seeking a Process Engineer to join our Milpitas, CA team. The role focuses on process-engineering capabilities aimed at cost, quality, and delivery improvements to support our manufacturing organization.

The position reports to the Operations Engineering Manager and involves implementing robust process control and ECO introductions. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree in engineering and 5+ years of experience in a regulated, high-volume environment such as medical or aerospace

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years in high-regulated, high-volume manufacturing.
  • Experience with screen printing, circuit etching, plating, or similar processing.
  • Lean Six Sigma knowledge or eagerness to earn certification.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and define manufacturability for processes and products.
  • Implement and evaluate proposed designs and processes for manufacturability.
  • Identify root causes of failures in manufacturing processes.
  • Participate in daily production activities and problem solving.
  • Prepare justification and implement capital equipment for production.
  • Oversee new process equipment production and ECO introductions.
  • Establish robust, repeatable process parameters and control methodologies.
  • Troubleshoot process-related issues and drive cycle-time improvements.
  • Evaluate engineered materials and select appropriate options.
  • Apply statistical process control to new and existing products.
  • Drive cost improvement and efficiency initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation and transfer to production.

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Process Engineer located in Milpitas CA. Reporting to the Operations Engineering Manager, the Process Engineer is responsible for process-engineering capabilities focused on cost, quality and delivery improvements to support a manufacturing organization.

What a typical day looks like:
  • Recognize the manufacturing process, technologies, techniques and the product.
  • Define, implement and evaluate proposed designs and processes for manufacturability.
  • Have the capability to singly or with other engineering stakeholders identify root causes of failures in the manufacturing process.
  • High level participation in daily production activities and effective problem solving on daily issues.
  • Prepare justification, purchase and implement capital equipment for production.
  • Hold up and oversee new process equipment production.
  • Hold up the raising and introduction of engineering change orders (ECOs).
  • Establish robust, repeatable and reproducible process parameters.
  • Develop, implement and take ownership of process control methodologies.
  • Trouble shoot process related issues.
  • Participate in activities pertaining to cycle time and process improvements.
  • Evaluate and select various engineered materials.
  • Implement statistical process research on new and existing products.
  • Implement safety, productivity and give in improvements.
  • Improve manufacturing techniques and through put.
  • Provide continuous development of manufacturing techniques that will improve in-house capabilities and gives in.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation.
  • Review processing methods.
  • Interface with production of all activities associated with new process implementation and transfer.
  • Assist in the development of training and provide training to production personnel during new technology transfer.
  • Provide equipment maintenance and repair hold up as required.
  • Guide cost improvement/reduction programs.
The experience we\'re looking to add to our team:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in high-regulated environment (Medical, Aerospace) within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Previous position supporting 24/5 production manufacturing
  • Experience with screen printing, circuit etching, plating, or other processing
  • AutoCAD, AutoCAD Inventor, & Microsoft Access is a plus
  • Experience with PLC troubleshooting is a plus
  • Lean and Six Sigma knowledge (cycle time, continuous improvement, DMIAC method) or eagerness to earn certification through onsite training.
  • Advanced operations, technical and people and/or process skills as well as customer (external and internal) relationship skills.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office and Excel knowledge PowerPoint
