Job summary

Micron Technology is seeking a Fab Process Engineer in Manassas, VA to develop, optimize, and sustain semiconductor processes that drive yield, quality, cost, and productivity. You will partner across equipment, integration, manufacturing, and supplier teams within the AI-enabled ecosystem to optimize process stability and throughput.

The role emphasizes data analytics, SPC/FDC insights, and continuous improvement to maximize production performance and minimize downtime across wafer fabrication.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or advanced certification in a related technical field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with SPC, FDC, FMEA, 8D.
  • Ability to develop, optimize and sustain semiconductor processes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, optimize, and sustain fabrication process steps for yield, quality, cost and productivity.
  • Drive step-level process changes, validate technology node readiness, and lead CI initiatives.
  • Investigate yield and defectivity issues using SPC, FDC, FMEA, 8D and data analytics.
  • Apply data analytics to prevent recurring issues and minimize downtime.
  • Manage qualifications and process control plans.
  • Hit production targets during ramp and transitions while protecting cycle time and quality.
  • Collaborate across Process, Manufacturing, Facilities, Quality, Maintenance.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.

As a Process Engineer, you will develop, optimize, and sustain the semiconductor processes that drive yield, quality, cost, and productivity by solving complex technical challenges and partnering across equipment, integration, manufacturing, and supplier teams. As part of Micron’s AI-enabled ecosystem, Fab Process Engineers leverage AI-assisted process monitoring, SPC/FDC insights, and data analytics to optimize process stability, yield, quality, cost, and productivity across wafer fabrication.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop, optimize, and sustain fabrication process steps for yield, quality, cost and productivity
  • Drive step-level process changes, validate new technology node readiness, evaluations and lead continuous improvement initiatives
  • Investigate yield and defectivity issues by tracking process performance with methods like FMEA, 8D, SPC, FDC, APC
  • Apply data analytics to prevent recurring issues and minimize production downtime
  • Manage qualifications and process control plans
  • Hit production targets during ramp and transitions, and protect cycle time, throughput and product quality
  • Partner and collaborate across functions (Process, Manufacturing, Facilities, Quality, Maintenance teams) to resolve issues
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Shown through education, internships, research, military, manufacturing, or professional experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree or advanced certification in a related technical field OR equivalent technical military experience OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Experience with SPC, FDC, FMEA, 8D

  • Quality management methodologies such as SPC, FDC, FMEA, 8D

  • Takes ownership and initiative, adaptable to new environments
  • Attention to detail, analytical thinking
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience or exposure to one or more of: Semiconductor process areas (Photo, CVD, PVD, Diffusion, Implant, Etch, CMP, Wet), High-volume manufacturing, DRAM development, SPC, FDC, APC, Metrology & inspection, JMP & data analytics, Machine learning, Process qualification.
