Position Overview

Chemours is seeking a Process Engineer to join our growing Louisville Works team. This position is based in Louisville, KY and reports directly to the Manufacturing Technology Manager. The Process Engineer will have process and production engineering responsibilities for supporting Process Safety Management, Environmental performance, new capital installation, day-to-day performance, and continuous improvement. The Engineering team includes chemical, mechanical and electrical engineers working within high hazard processes that use highly toxic materials (HTMs). PSM excellence is required.

Responsibilities
  • Provide engineering expertise on unit operations such as distillation, refrigeration, pressure vessels, scrubbers and liquid and gas transfer.
  • Provide technical oversight for day-to-day operations, including process monitoring, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
  • Lead and/or participate in Process Safety Management (PSM) related activities such as Process Hazards Analysis (PHA) reviews, Pre‑Start‑Up Safety Reviews (PSSR), Mechanical Integrity, and Process Technology reviews.
  • Initiate Management of Change (MOC) activities to improve safety, quality, environment, and cost of the production unit.
  • Perform tests to enhance safety, quality, environment, and cost of the production unit.
  • Review, revise, and create procedures and other technical documentation.
  • Assist front‑end loading of capital projects to ensure equipment meets process requirements at the highest uptime and lowest life‑cycle cost.
  • Provide process support to all project phases.
  • Work on continuous improvement activities to enhance area performance.
  • Mentor less experienced engineers and student co‑ops.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of a BS in Chemical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 2 years of engineering experience.
  • At least 2 years in a High Hazard Chemical Manufacturing Process.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of typical equipment used in a Chemical Plant (pumps, compressors, piping, valves, etc.).
  • Demonstrated capability to understand underlying chemical interactions within a Chemical Plant.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and execute improvements supporting Business goals in Safety, Throughput & Cost.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Willing and able to wear required PPE (steel toes, hard hat, Nomex, eye protection, respirators, etc.).
  • Demonstrated understanding of OSHA 1910 Process Safety Management.
  • Candidates must be able to perform all duties listed with or without accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MS in Chemical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience.
  • Experience leading/participating in Process Hazards Analyses.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt (or higher) Certification.
  • Experience with distillation processes.

  • Annual Bonus Target: 11%.
