Job summary

Marathon Electric, LLC is seeking a Process Engineer to improve and sustain manufacturing processes at our Missouri-based motor production facility. You will drive safety, productivity, quality, and cost efficiency while developing essential documentation and equipment protocols.

You will analyze process data, troubleshoot issues, and work with engineering, operations, and purchasing teams to deliver measurable improvements. Strong communication and CAD skills are a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a manufacturing engineering discipline or equivalent.
  • 2–5 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Lean manufacturing tools and experience desired.

Job Overview

The Process Engineer plays a key role in supporting and improving manufacturing processes within the Marathon Electric motor production facility.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Develop, implement, and maintain manufacturing processes to improve safety, productivity, quality, and cost efficiency.
  • Create, interpret, and disseminate engineering documentation such as bills of materials, routers, submittals, detail drawings and revisions, and installation instructions as appropriate.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing problems.
  • Develop and implement process improvements and equipment protocols that will improve production and other key business metrics.
  • Analyze process data to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Solve problems concerning the interpretation of drawings, manufacturing methods, and material requirements.
  • Interface with Product Engineering, Marketing, Manufacturing, and Purchasing Teams to provide a competitive advantage in quality, innovation, and service.
  • Specify equipment requirements and justification via Capital Expenditure Requests.
  • Adhere to, communicate, and maintain standard processes, procedures, and policies.
  • Participate in special projects as required.
  • Create and maintain process documentation, work instructions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Flexibility to adapt to deadlines, changing schedules, priorities, and unpredictable events within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Communicate thoughts, ideas, information, and messages in a logical, organized, and professional manner.
  • Ideas are well developed with supporting information and examples.
  • Break down information into fundamental parts using a systematic approach.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and company policies.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors on equipment and material specifications as needed.
  • Develop and implement solutions to technical problems.
  • Provide project coordination and communication.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively in a team.
  • Ensure license and required permits are kept current and renewed in a timely manner.
  • Assist the leadership team with problem resolutions on day-to-day activities and issues.
  • Use problem solving approaches and techniques.
  • Lead or support Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and 5S initiatives to improve workflow efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial or related field.
  • 2–5 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing or production environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office.
  • CAD experience is a plus
  • Must be a creative problem solver.
  • Technical aptitude and familiarity with manufacturing processes.
  • Lean manufacturing tools and experience desired.
  • Travel to other facilities as needed.
  • Self-motivated and goal orientated.
  • Effectively communicate with other employees, departments, and levels of management.
  • Promote teamwork and foster a great team environment.
  • Ability to learn new process and procedures.
  • Willingness to adapt to different work situations.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Physical capabilities include but are not limited to: frequent walking and standing, occasional twisting, stooping, carrying, handling, pushing, and pulling; climbing, kneeling, and lifting 20-35 lbs. Frequently and 26-50 lbs. occasionally. Majority of time is spent in an office setting. But will also be in a manufacturing production environment with some (but not all) climate-controlled areas. Personal protective safety equipment must be worn, and proper safety precautions must be observed.
