Job summary

Trueline seeks a Process Engineer to join its Erie, PA team. This onsite role owns process improvements, equipment projects and production startup across forging, machining, heat treatment and automation.

You will lead capital projects, develop repeatable processes, and work with controls, maintenance, and suppliers to deliver measurable results on the plant floor.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology required.
  • 5+ years in manufacturing engineering in a high-volume production setting.
  • Hands-on experience with supporting manufacturing equipment and processes.
  • Experience with CNC machining process development.
  • Knowledge of forging, spin-forming, heat treatment, CNC machining, coating, or paint processes.
  • Data-driven approach to improve manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to manage projects involving equipment, tooling, vendors, installation, and startup.
  • Familiarity with PLC controls, robotics, and industrial automation.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Comfort working on the manufacturing floor on-site.

Responsibilities

  • Support plant operations by solving manufacturing and process engineering problems on the production floor.
  • Develop stable, repeatable manufacturing processes with data support and engineering analysis.
  • Lead projects from specifications to vendor selection, design, installation, commissioning and startup.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce cycle time, scrap, waste, and costs while improving quality and throughput.
  • Prepare capital expenditure requests with technical analysis and cost justification.
  • Improve processes via equipment modifications, tooling redesign, and process changes.
  • Develop process improvements using Mastercam and other modeling tools.
  • Support robotics, PLC-controlled equipment, and automation with maintenance resources.
  • Design fixtures and tooling and support procurement of new tooling.
  • Collaborate with Quality to maintain process capability and stability.
  • Evaluate new product designs for manufacturability and define required processes.
  • Research new manufacturing technologies to increase plant capability.
  • Work cross-functionally with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, Engineering and suppliers.
  • Train plant personnel and foster continuous improvement.

Job description

Trueline, a major manufacturer, is seeking a Process Engineer to join its engineering team in Erie, PA. This is an onsite, hands-on manufacturing engineering role within a large-scale forged aluminum operation where you'll own process improvements, equipment projects, and manufacturing capability from the plant floor through production startup.

This is an opportunity for an engineer who likes seeing ideas become real equipment and measurable results. You'll work across forging, forming, heat treatment, machining, coating, robotics, and automation while taking meaningful ownership of capital projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

What You'll Do as the Process Engineer:
  • Support plant operations by solving manufacturing and process engineering problems directly on the production floor
  • Develop stable, repeatable manufacturing processes supported by production data and engineering analysis
  • Lead engineering projects from initial specifications and quotations through vendor selection, design, installation, commissioning, and production startup
  • Identify opportunities to reduce cycle time, scrap, waste, and manufacturing costs while improving quality and throughput
  • Prepare capital expenditure requests with supporting technical analysis, cost justification, and project requirements
  • Improve existing manufacturing processes through equipment modifications, tooling redesign, and process changes
  • Develop process improvements using Mastercam and other 3-D modeling and engineering applications
  • Support robotics, PLC-controlled equipment, and manufacturing automation in partnership with controls and maintenance resources
  • Design fixtures and tooling for new products and support procurement of new or redesigned tooling
  • Partner with Quality Engineering to maintain process capability and stability
  • Evaluate new product designs for manufacturability and define the processes required to successfully produce them
  • Research and introduce new manufacturing technologies that increase plant capability
  • Work cross-functionally with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, suppliers, and equipment manufacturers
  • Help train plant personnel and support a culture of continuous improvement
Must-Haves as the Process Engineer:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
  • 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in a high-volume production environment
  • Hands-on experience supporting manufacturing equipment and processes
  • Experience with CNC machining process development
  • Practical knowledge of one or more relevant manufacturing processes such as forging, spin-forming, heat treating, CNC machining, coating, or paint applications
  • Demonstrated experience improving manufacturing processes using data and measurable performance indicators
  • Ability to manage engineering projects involving equipment, tooling, vendors, installation, and startup
  • Working understanding of PLC controls, robotics, and industrial automation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively across engineering, operations, maintenance, quality, and plant leadership
  • Comfortable working regularly on the manufacturing floor in an onsite plant environment
Nice-to-Haves as the Process Engineer:
  • Mechanical Engineering degree
  • Aluminum, wheel, automotive, commercial vehicle, or similar high-volume manufacturing experience
  • Forging or spin-forming experience
  • Heat treatment experience
  • Advanced CNC machining knowledge
  • Mastercam experience
  • Robotics and automation experience
  • Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma experience
  • Familiarity with ISO/IATF 16949 quality systems
  • Previous experience in a union manufacturing environment
