Pay Range $94,100.00-$129,400.00 Annual. This is the base salary pay range that an applicant can expect to make upon hire. Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors. In addition, this position is eligible for an incentive bonus.

Role purpose

The purpose of the Process Engineer's role is to provide technical leadership to operate a major asset (typical annual revenue of $50MM to $200MM) toward target output, material and energy usage by meeting product specifications. The Process Engineer II establishes a process of data collection, auditing and preventive maintenance to identify deviations quickly and suggest corrective measures. Lean, RCCA analysis, 5 Why, the JM Solve-It method or Keppner / Tregoe, and a Six Sigma approach should be applied where needed. The Process Engineer II addresses improvements in process efficiency, product quality, and the cost of poor quality, leading process optimization and equipment reliability.

Your Day to Day
  • Perform continuous analysis identifying areas for improvement and corrective actions.
  • Develop standard control processes and standard operating procedures.
  • Define process set points for all product types and create associated management tools (e.g., setup sheets in MII, SOPs).
  • Actively support improvement of safety performance by encouraging safe behaviors and engaging in the process to improve the JM safety culture.
  • Support the Operations and Maintenance Department efforts to troubleshoot and solve problems.
  • Have a work until the problem is solved attitude.
  • Utilize blueprints, electrical diagrams, equipment manuals, and engineering drawings to assist in the design, optimization, and troubleshooting of industrial systems.
  • Create and maintain knowledge of the latest technologies and evaluate for use in current and future processes.
  • Work closely with internal and external resources to resolve technical issues.
  • Share learnings and findings in a proactive way in the technical community and potentially participate in the JM COE's.
  • Monitor product quality, investigate quality problems and customer complaints, direct SPC and design experiments.
  • Execute standard control processes and standard operating procedures.
  • Develop and provide training documents.
  • Aid Production and Maintenance personnel through consultations, formal training, and monitoring policy and checklist execution.
  • Understand and help implement the Edison Site Environmental Policy and Objectives.
  • Collaborate across functions to identify process improvement opportunities; provide leadership for process redesign during rebuilds or major investments.
  • Lead multiple projects and process optimizations in a manufacturing operation, including capital projects; provide on-site support during construction and startup.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support operations, with professional flexibility to address urgent manufacturing challenges.
  • May serve as a back up to the Production Superintendent and Plant Engineer.
  • May be required to perform other related duties as assigned.
What You Bring to the Team
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related science with a minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial continuous process manufacturing (process, manufacturing, product or continuous improvement engineering) and 2 years troubleshooting manufacturing processes.
  • Proven track record of identifying and implementing process improvements.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills including complex data analysis.
  • Successful history of innovation and adaptability; solid project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks.
  • Proven results orientation including the ability to lead key projects to successful completion.
  • Experience with DOE for process improvement.
  • Solid interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Ability to set and communicate expectations to team members; demonstrated collaboration across a broad range of employees.
  • Proven ability to make timely decisions; proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Strong leadership skills; proven analytical and quality improvement ability.
  • Ability to interface at all levels of the organization, both internally and externally.
  • Supervises/leads individuals or a project team to achieve milestones by setting priorities and providing direction.
  • Some travel may be required.
  • Work environment is typical of a manufacturing facility with potential exposure to environmental conditions described (cold, heat, noise, moving parts, etc.).
