Job summary

McDonald Plastic Molding is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to advance molding processes and production efficiency. You will develop methods, establish operation sequences, and collaborate with Quality to document processes for new projects.

With a BS in Engineering or Industrial Technology and hands-on experience in injection molding, you will quote opportunities, analyze data from MES/ERP, and drive continuous improvement while maintaining a safe, organized work environment.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Engineering or Industrial Technology and 1–2 years related experience.
  • Familiarity with injection molding machinery, tooling, plastics processing and related quality systems preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency in MS Office, ERP and MES systems.
  • Ability to collaborate with internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

  • Develop manufacturing methods and processes
  • Establish a sequence of operations with the most efficient, effective method of manufacture
  • Develops new molding processes using scientific methods/decoupled molding
  • Collaborates with the Quality team to establish related quality documentation (Process Books) for new projects; Maintains documentation for existing projects
  • Assist the Engineering team in quoting new business opportunities
  • Develop production standards
  • Analyze performance data from MES and ERP systems to identify, monitor and implement cost reduction initiatives
  • Recommends tooling/equipment modifications to optimize cycle times and reduce scrap
  • Support or lead initiatives to reduce mold change over time
  • Train and coach injection mold technicians in problem solving, set-up and processing techniques
  • Recommend equipment to achieve optimal quality, cost and customer satisfaction
  • Creates new robotic programs and improves existing programs.
  • Researches new methods and best practices of injection molding, automation and value added assembly
  • Leads or participates in continuous improvement activities; Support 5S initiatives
  • Participate in-group and individual training.
  • Perform all duties in a safe manner while supporting and encouraging the company’s safety culture.
  • Maintain a clean, organized and safe working environment.
  • Perform all job duties with a positive, collaborative, and encouraging attitude.

RESPONSIBILITIES

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Excellent project management and organization skills
  • Ability to collaborate with internal and external customers
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency in MS Office, ERP and MES systems
  • Data driven and proficient in implementing continuous improvement initiatives
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

B.S. in Engineering or Industrial Technology and one to two years related experience;

Familiarity with injection molding machinery, tooling, plastics processing and related quality systems preferred.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
