Job summary

UTEX Industries is seeking an experienced Process Engineer to support and improve manufacturing processes for small-series production of elastomer and plastic seals. You will work with production, quality, maintenance, and engineering teams to drive efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure top quality across 8,000+ SKUs.

The role focuses on process analysis, SOP development, root-cause problem solving, and implementing sustainable improvements using Lean, Six Sigma, and other methodologies.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment with hands-on troubleshooting for process issues.
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze manufacturing processes and identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost efficiency.
  • Develop, document, and implement SOPs and process controls.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Six Sigma and related methodologies.
  • Investigate production issues, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Monitor KPIs and production metrics to drive performance.
  • Collaborate with senior engineering staff to support new products, equipment, and technologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize workflow and processes.
  • Conduct process capability studies and recommend improvements.
  • Assist with plant layout, workflow design, and capacity planning.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, safety regulations, and quality standards.
  • Prepare technical reports and project updates.
  • Provide technical support and training to production personnel.

About The Role

We are a manufacturer of precision elastomer and plastic seals serving oil & gas, mining, and water distribution markets, specializing in small-series production across 8,000+ SKUs annually. We are seeking an experienced Process Engineer to support and improve manufacturing processes, increase operational efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure product quality. The Process Engineer will work closely with production, quality, maintenance, and engineering teams to identify process improvements, troubleshoot manufacturing issues, and implement sustainable solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze manufacturing processes and identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost efficiency.
  • Develop, document, and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) and process controls.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies, partnering with senior engineering staff to drive long-term solutions.
  • Investigate production issues, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and production metrics.
  • Collaborate closely with senior engineering team members to support the introduction of new products, equipment, and manufacturing technologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize workflow and production processes.
  • Conduct process capability studies and recommend improvements.
  • Assist with plant layout, workflow design, and capacity planning.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and quality standards.
  • Prepare technical reports, process documentation, and project updates.
  • Provide technical support and training to production personnel as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or higher. Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2 + years of experience in a manufacturing environment with a proven track record of hands‑on troubleshooting for process issues.
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills, with keen attention to detail
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Experience
  • Background in rubber/plastics molding or tooling design.
  • Strong understanding of core manufacturing processes and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma, 5S).
  • Experience with ERP systems and manufacturing software.
  • Exposure to high variety, low-volume / small-series manufacturing environments.
