Terberg Taylor Americas is seeking a Process Engineer to optimize and sustain manufacturing and assembly processes. The role emphasizes data-driven decisions, time studies, standardization, and continuous improvement across facilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, industrial, automotive, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of manufacturing/process engineering or continuous improvement experience preferred.
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or CI methodologies preferred.
  • Experience supporting new product introductions and production process implementation.
  • Experience in assembly/manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, document, implement, and maintain manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste, rework, downtime, and costs.

Position Summary

The Process Engineer is responsible for optimizing, developing, and sustaining manufacturing and assembly processes to improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost efficiency across the organization. This role supports the introduction of new products and product options into production while driving continuous improvement initiatives through Lean manufacturing principles and data-driven decision making.

The Process Engineer works closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Logistics, Supply Chain, and Engineering teams to ensure manufacturing processes are efficient, standardized, and sustainable. The position plays a key role in supporting operational excellence, employee training, facility improvements, and process innovation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Process Development and Optimization
  • Develop, document, implement, and maintain manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Analyze production methods and workflows to identify opportunities for increased efficiency, quality, and throughput.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing waste, rework, downtime, and production costs.
  • Improve "First Time Right" manufacturing quality through process standardization and error-proofing techniques.
  • Conduct time studies, workflow analyses, and capacity planning to support operational improvements.
  • Evaluate manufacturing feasibility and cost effectiveness of processes and recommend improvements.
Project Management
  • Lead and participate in cross-functional projects related to process improvements, facility modifications, tooling upgrades, automation initiatives, and new product introductions.
  • Develop project plans, schedules, budgets, and implementation strategies.
  • Coordinate activities with internal departments, external vendors, contractors, and international engineering teams as required.
  • Monitor project progress and provide regular status updates to leadership.
Manufacturing Support
  • Support the introduction of new vehicles, products, product options, and engineering changes into production.
  • Develop assembly procedures, work instructions, and manufacturing standards.
  • Identify tooling, fixture, and equipment requirements necessary to support production operations.
  • Collaborate with production teams to troubleshoot manufacturing issues and implement corrective actions, while proposing preventive actions to the stakeholders involved.
  • Participate in process automation and digital manufacturing initiatives.
Quality and Continuous Improvement
  • Analyze production data, quality metrics, and operational performance indicators to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective action activities.
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Drive initiatives that improve product quality, operational performance, and customer satisfaction.
  • Facilitate problem-solving activities involving production, engineering, quality, and supply chain functions.
Facility, Equipment, and Tooling Support
  • Coordinate modifications and improvements to production facilities, equipment, tooling, and auxiliary systems.
  • Support plant renovation, expansion, and capital improvement projects.
  • Work closely with maintenance teams to improve equipment reliability and production uptime.
  • Assist in evaluating and implementing new manufacturing technologies and equipment.
Training and Employee Development
  • Identify training needs within production departments.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, training materials, and standard operating procedures.
  • Support employee training programs to ensure proper understanding of manufacturing processes and quality requirements.
  • Work with supervisors and managers to ensure employees are qualified and properly trained.
Safety and Environmental Compliance
  • Promote a safe working environment and ensure compliance with all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Support compliance with OSHA, EPA, environmental, and quality management requirements.
  • Participate in safety audits, ergonomic assessments, and risk reduction activities.
  • Integrate safety and ergonomic considerations into all process improvement projects.
Collaboration and Communication
  • Work closely with Production, Maintenance, Quality, Supply Chain, Logistics, and Engineering teams.
  • Collaborate with international colleagues to standardize manufacturing methods and improve product quality.
  • Organize and facilitate shop floor meetings, improvement events, and project reviews.
  • Provide recommendations to leadership regarding process improvements, tooling innovations, and operational efficiencies.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and performance metrics for management review.
Other Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate records of projects, process changes, and performance improvements.
  • Monitor and report time utilization and project progress.
  • Support departmental administrative and coordination activities as requested.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Industrial Management, or a related technical field required.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant manufacturing engineering experience may be considered.
Experience
  • Minimum 3-5 years of manufacturing, process engineering, industrial engineering, or continuous improvement experience preferred.
  • Experience in assembly and manufacturing environments is highly preferred.
  • Experience supporting new product introductions and production process implementation preferred.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement methodologies preferred.
Technical Skills
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing engineering principles and industrial processes.
  • Knowledge of production systems, assembly operations, tooling, and automation concepts.
  • Experience with ERP and manufacturing software systems such as Microsoft Dynamics AX, D365, MES, or similar platforms preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Power BI.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Experience using data analysis tools to support operational decision-making.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequent movement throughout manufacturing and warehouse facilities.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, climb stairs, and navigate production areas.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed footwear, and other equipment as required.
  • Ability to work in both office and manufacturing environments.
Work Environment
  • Combination of office and manufacturing plant environments.
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts, powered industrial equipment, noise, vibration, and varying temperatures in production areas.
  • Regular interaction with production employees, supervisors, vendors, contractors, and engineering personnel.
  • Occasional travel may be required for training, project support, or collaboration with other facilities.
