Job summary

Inolex in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Process Engineer to support the Production department and lead engineering initiatives in a mixed office/plant setting. You will analyze processes to boost efficiency, quality, and cost reduction, and manage plant changes via MOC.

You will ensure compliance with quality requirements and collaborate with operations to troubleshoot and improve processes. Bachelor's in engineering and 5–10 years of relevant experience are expected.

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of experience as a Process, Chemical or Mechanical Engineer.
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.
  • Experience with Rockwell Automation or PLC systems is a plus.
  • Experience with batch processing and continuous improvement.
  • Experience in Process Safety Management (PSM).
  • Ability to work in a partially office and chemical plant environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provides support to the Production department while also carrying out Engineering initiatives.
  • Analyzes equipment, systems, and processes to identify modifications that improve efficiency, increase quality, and reduce costs.
  • Carries out Management of Change (MOC) for applicable plant changes.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable company and client quality requirements in all assigned programs, functions, products, and areas.
  • Identifies and reports problems with specific processes or products to the respective teams.
  • Assists in the development of new methods to improve product quality and process efficacy and efficiency.
  • Supports new product qualifications as needed, taking handoff from R&D and supervising qualification batches in the Small Commercial Reactor.
  • Ensures compliance with codes, guidelines, best practices, and policies.
  • Collaborates with the operations department to identify and troubleshoot problems.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with strong attention to detail.

  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong self-starter with the ability to work independently, take initiative to identify improvement opportunities, and collaborate proactively with cross-functional teams.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

  • Ability to read and understand manuals and maintain proper records.

  • Basic understanding of ISO-9000.


Education And Experience


  • 5-10 years' experience as a Process, Chemical or Mechanical Engineer, preferably in a production or process area of specialty chemical products.

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.

  • Experience with Rockwell Automation or other PLC systems is a plus.

  • Experience with batch processing.

  • Experience with continuous improvement.

  • Experience in Process Safety Management (PSM).


Physical Requirements


  • Located partially in an office and partially in a chemical plant environment.

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Must be able to lift up to 55 pounds and perform squatting and kneeling activities.


Summary

The Process Engineer will report to the Engineering Manager or anyone of similar status. The Process Engineer will maintain reliable and safe manufacturing systems while improving production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs, and changeovers. The Process Engineer will identify, develop, and implement solutions to continuously improve site safety, process capability, and production volume while maintaining or improving quality standards.
