Job summary

Polyventive in Northwest Georgia is seeking a Process Engineer to support manufacturing across multiple facilities. You will lead process improvements, scale-up new products and drive safety, quality and cost reductions through data-driven decisions.

The role requires collaboration with Operations, EH&S, R&D and Purchasing to maximize asset utilization. Qualifications include a BS in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, 5+ years in chemical manufacturing, and knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean.

Qualifications

  • BS in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with chemical manufacturing experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in chemical manufacturing.
  • Experience designing and scaling processes; ownership of productivity and capital projects.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt and Lean Manufacturing preferred.
  • Direct experience in chemical plant batch operations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, Hazmat and EPA Compliance & Regulations.
  • Excellent computer and quantitative ability.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a change agent within the Operations team.
  • Drive process improvements in efficiency and safety.
  • Conduct experiments, data analysis and troubleshooting.
  • Lead projects addressing optimization and constraint removal.
  • Prepare technical reports and process documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Drive asset utilization and scale-up of new products.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to reduce costs.
  • Partner with EH&S and Plant Managers to advance safety culture.
  • Develop and maintain operating procedures.
  • Manage plant costs to budget.
  • Participate in Incident Reporting, GEMBA and 5S programs.

The Process Engineer is a high-visibility role supporting all facets of manufacturing for Polyventive. Polyventive manufactures a variety of specialty chemicals and has significant expertise in polymers, esters, surfactants, as well as acid and base handling. The role will require a collaborative approach and delivery of optimization and efficiency improvements of multiple facilities in Northwest Georgia.

Summary

The role will require a collaborative approach and delivery of optimization and efficiency improvements of multiple facilities in Northwest Georgia.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Serve as a change agent within the Polyventive Operations team.
  • Focus on driving process continual improvements in efficiency and safety.
  • Conduct experiments, data analysis and troubleshooting for production issues.
  • Lead projects that address optimization and removal of constraints that are completed in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Prepare technical reports, process documentation and presentations for all levels of the organization.
  • Ensure that all processes comply with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement appropriate safety measures.
  • Drive the maximization of asset utilization within the Polyventive operations group.
  • Lead process scale-up of new products.
  • Work on cross-functional teams (including the Commercial, R&D, Purchasing and Transportation functions) to drive cost reduction initiatives.
  • Team with EH&S Manager and facility Plant Mangers to drive our safety culture and EH&S initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain operating procedures for manufacturing processes.
  • Manage plant controllable and project costs to budget.
  • Participate and, as necessary, lead Incident Reporting, GEMBA and 5S programs.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
  • BS Degree in Chemical Engineering or in Mechanical Engineering with chemical manufacturing experience
  • 5 + Years of experience
  • Prior experience in design and equipment processes; scale up, ownership of productivity and capital investment project management.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt and Lean Manufacturing preferred
  • Direct experience in chemical plant batch operations
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent computer and quantitative ability
  • Knowledge of basic polymer chemistry
  • Knowledge of OSHA, Hazmat and EPA Compliance & Regulations
Education

Work Environment

Work is typically performed in an inside, temperature-controlled environment. Works and travels throughout plant environment of varied temperatures and humidity, and wears personal protective equipment, as required.
