Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Process Engineer for our on-site manufacturing facility. The role focuses on automated assembly and plastic injection molding across multiple product lines, with hands-on work on molding equipment and tooling to boost quality and efficiency.

You will apply Lean and Six Sigma principles, document processes, and support cross-functional teams from engineering to quality to ensure smooth product introductions and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of plastic injection mold processing experience.
• Hands-on experience with injection molding operations, including setup, optimization, and troubleshooting.
• Experience in process engineering within a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Support automated assembly and plastic injection molding operations across multiple product lines.
• Work hands-on with injection molding equipment, tooling, and related manufacturing systems to optimize performance.
• Develop, refine, and document manufacturing processes to improve product quality and production efficiency.
• Apply process engineering principles to troubleshoot issues in molding and assembly operations and implement robust solutions.
• Use Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to identify waste, reduce variation, and drive continuous improvement projects.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in engineering, production, and quality to support new product introduction and process development.
• Create, update, and maintain work instructions and standard operating procedures to ensure consistent manufacturing practices.
• Support automation initiatives by evaluating and improving automated assembly processes and equipment.
• Monitor production performance, analyze data, and implement process improvements to enhance throughput and reduce scrap.
• Ensure manufacturing processes comply with applicable standards and support requirements for medical device or similarly regulated products, as applicable.
• Contribute to tooling design reviews and improvements to enhance mold performance, part quality, and tool life.
• Participate in continuous improvement activities focused on safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
• Provide on-floor support to production teams, including training and guidance on new or updated processes.

Essential Skills

• Knowledge of manufacturing processes related to automated assembly and production.
• Ability to develop, implement, and refine manufacturing processes for improved quality and efficiency.
• Experience with process improvement and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing practices.
• Exposure to Six Sigma tools and concepts.
• Ability to create and maintain work instructions and process documentation.
• Strong mechanical engineering aptitude related to tooling, equipment, and manufacturing systems.
• Bachelor's Degree in Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Four (4) years of practical application of Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing is a plus.
• Experience in medical device manufacturing or other highly regulated industries is beneficial.
• Experience in mechanical engineering or manufacturing engineering is advantageous.
• Experience with automation in manufacturing environments is desirable.
• Demonstrated success in process development and process improvement initiatives.
• Ability to support continuous improvement programs focused on quality, cost, and efficiency.
• Strong communication skills to collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams.
• Interest in long-term career growth within a stable manufacturing organization.

Work Environment

This role is fully onsite in a manufacturing facility that operates plastic injection molding equipment and automated assembly systems. You will work in a production-floor environment with exposure to machinery, operational noise, and typical manufacturing activity. The position requires the use of standard personal protective equipment, including safety shoes, safety goggles, and hearing protection, in designated areas. The role may involve occasional extended periods of standing or sitting while monitoring processes, troubleshooting equipment, or supporting production.
