Boston Metal is seeking a Process Development Engineer to facilitate the development of our Molten Oxide Electrolysis (MOE) platform to revolutionize the millennia-old steel industry, while staying cost-competitive with no greenhouse-gas emissions.

In this role you will work with pilot-scale operations and R&D to develop industrial scale pyrometallurgical processes involving MOE. Responsibilities include designing experiments to validate and improve process parameters and flow diagrams, analysis and presentation of experimental results, and interfacing across teams to achieve your goals and communicate your findings. This is a role with significant room for growth reporting to the Director of Process Development & Engineering.

  • Strong grasp of chemical engineering principles (e.g., mass and energy balances, thermodynamics, transport phenomena)
Desired Skills and Experience:
  • Proficiency in one or more of FactSage, CAD, COMSOL, and Python
  • Experience in characterization of metals and materials (XRF, LECO, SEM…)
A Successful Candidate Will:
  • Embrace the “start-up mindset”, thrive in small teams, be a self-motivated, quick learner, passionate, agile, and adaptable
  • Develop solutions that make parts of their current job obsolete
