Job summary

Stellar Scale Nano Fabrication seeks a Process Development Engineer to convert lab results into robust, scalable processes. You will diagnose failures, design experiments, improve yield and throughput, and translate lab work into customer-ready processes.

In this fast-moving lab, you will work directly with equipment, develop process windows and qualify production recipes for scalable manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in experimental process development or semiconductor processing.
• Ability to troubleshoot physical systems with disciplined experiments.
• Experience documenting results for reproducibility.

Job description

Our hardware team builds the machines. You will make them perform.

As our first Process Development Engineer, you will turn promising fabrication results into robust, repeatable processes. You will diagnose failures, design experiments, improve yield and throughput, and translate what works in the lab into processes we can qualify for customers and eventually scale across machines.

What you’ll do

• Investigate fabrication defects and isolate root causes across equipment, optics, materials, process parameters, and part design.
• Design and execute controlled experiments to understand exposure, development, and material behavior; identify the constraints that most limit yield or throughput.
• Establish validated process windows, production recipes, acceptance criteria, and clear operating procedures.
• Characterize micro- and nanoscale structures using microscopy, profilometry, and other metrology; use the results to drive improvements.
• Develop and qualify processes for customer-specific structures and applications.
• Build reliable experimental records and structured process data that support future automation and optimization.

What you bring

• Hands-on experience in experimental process development, semiconductor processing, lithography, laser processing, microfabrication, or precision manufacturing.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex physical systems using disciplined experiments and data.
• Experience analyzing process parameters and documenting results so others can reproduce them.
• Comfort working directly with equipment in a fast-moving laboratory environment.

Nice to have

• Two-photon polymerization, two photon lithography, or laser-based fabrication.
• DOE, statistical process control, pilot-line or production process qualification.
• Microscopy/metrology and Python, MATLAB, or similar data analysis tools.
