Placements24 is seeking a Process Design Engineer in Randburg, Gauteng, ZA, to design and develop water and wastewater treatment processes for municipal and industrial clients. You will perform mass/energy balances, select treatment technologies, and support pilot tests from concept to commissioning.

The role requires a chemical or environmental engineering degree and 5+ years of experience, with strong technical writing and communication skills.

• Experience with process simulation software (BioWin, AqWise, or similar).

Responsabilidades

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) for water treatment plants.

• Select appropriate treatment technologies and equipment (e.g., filtration, membrane processes, chemical dosing, biological treatment).
• Conduct treatability studies and pilot plant trials to validate process designs.
• Prepare process design packages, including design reports, specifications, and operating manuals.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams (civil, mechanical, electrical) to ensure integrated design solutions.
• Provide technical support during the construction and commissioning phases of projects.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant environmental regulations, industry standards, and client requirements.
• Conduct site visits for data collection and project execution.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing within the department.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Environmental Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in process design, specifically in water and wastewater treatment.
• Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., BioWin, AqWise, or similar).
• Strong understanding of physical, chemical, and biological water treatment processes.
• Experience with membrane technologies (RO, UF, MF) is highly advantageous.
• Familiarity with relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., SANS).
