Job summary

Hyfé is seeking a process development engineer to turn lab and pilot data into scalable process models and decision-ready designs. You will own data flow, reconcile balances, and build robust Aspen Plus models, translating results into economic inputs and risk-informed decisions.

You will collaborate with chemists to design lean experiments, size unit operations with suppliers, and draft PFDs/P&IDs and operating procedures for pilot-scale learning.

Qualifications

• BA in Chemical Engineering or closely related field with 4+ years of experience.
• Demonstrated hands-on problem solving in a startup or fast-paced environment.
• Ability to perform mass- and energy-balance reconciliation on imperfect data and to explain methods (e.g. HPLC, UV-Vis).
• Proficiency with process-modeling tools such as Aspen Plus or SuperPro Designer, including pseudo-components for complex streams.
• Proficiency in techno-economic modelling (TEM) with sensitivity and uncertainty analyses.
• Clear, concise written communication and ability to present recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Own data flow from lab and pilot to process design; reconcile mass and energy balances and document assumptions.
• Build and maintain an Aspen Plus flowsheet; translate outputs into techno-economic inputs and run sensitivity analyses.
• Design lean experiments with chemists; plan targeted trials with equipment suppliers.
• Draft and iterate PFDs, P&IDs, control notes, and operating procedures reflecting pilot learning and safety.
• Write decision memos and prepare slides for leadership, investors, and customers; contribute to patent/grant materials.
