- Provide process control systems engineering support for production facilities in the Baton Rouge / Geismar, Louisiana region
- Support daily operation of control systems within overall facility operations
- Build and implement changes to improve safety and operability
- Conduct root cause analyses internally and with automation vendors
- Identify, complete, and support improvement projects related to DCS and SIS systems
- Plan and provide lifecycle support for control systems, including programming, preventive maintenance, and upgrade migrations
- Address instrumentation and automation system obsolescence
- Implement changes to control logic, HMI, and databases, and document those changes
- Align with local I&E technicians and provide support and leadership for instrument-related activities
- Improve and optimize existing assets
- Drive improvements in plant reliability, cybersecurity, and cost reduction
- Meet organizational safety goals
- Work closely with regional process controls engineers, plant process engineers, area managers, site supervisors, and operating staff
- Support facilities including steam methane reformers producing hydrogen and carbon monoxide, satellite offgas purification facilities, and hydrogen pipeline assets
Requirements
- Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of experience in process automation systems and/or instrumentation engineering
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and the ability to access and safely operate a reliable personal vehicle on an ongoing basis
- Must be legally eligible to work in the US without current or future sponsorship (e.g. temporary work visa or work permit)
- Hands-on knowledge of control systems (DCS/PLC)
- Experience with Siemens PCS7 or ABB 800xA preferred
- Knowledge of field instrumentation, including valves and transmitters
- Proficiency and experience with level, temperature, pressure, and flow measurement concepts
- Foundational understanding of computer networks
- General knowledge of cybersecurity as relates to industrial control systems
- General knowledge of safety instrumented systems as applicable to mechanical integrity
- Self-motivated with strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Must be capable of working in a team environment with shared responsibilities
- Effective communicator able to present complex topics to varied audiences, including customers, vendors, management, and site personnel
