Job summary

VAA in Minneapolis, Minnesota, is seeking Process Controls/Electrical Technicians for a hybrid schedule. You will join our Engineering, Origination and Manufacturing teams to draft and detail control-system drawings, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts under the direction of senior designers.

The role requires a certificate in construction design/drafting or at least 1 year of related drafting experience and NEC knowledge; CAD experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Certificate in construction related design/drafting or higher.
  • At least 1 year of directly related drafting experience for control systems.
  • Basic knowledge of National Electric Code (NEC).

Responsibilities

  • Work with Designers and Engineers to produce quality drawings for projects from concept through construction documents.
  • Set up plans, sections and details to drafting standards.
  • Identify redlines and implement changes accurately.
  • Utilize CAD software with growing proficiency and depth.
  • Take on increasingly complex design tasks and continue learning.

Description

Our growing firm is looking for hard‑working team players who are eager to learn, committed to growth, and driven to make a real impact. We are currently hiring Process Controls/Electrical Technicians in our Origination, Processing and Manufacturing sectors, where we provide structural designs for a wide range of industries.

Our Process Controls/Electrical team is a trusted and preferred partner to major local, national and international clients. These diverse and long‑term client relationships have supported sustainable company growth through 48 years.

This is an opportunity to join a team of experienced Engineers and Designers who partner effectively together to deliver value to our clients and propel our company.

Your role:

Under the direction of a Designer or Senior Designer you will:

  • Work with other Designers and Engineers to produce quality drawings for a variety of project types from concept phase through construction documents.
  • Set up plans, sections and details to specified drafting standards.
  • Identify redlines on drawings created by others and accurately make required changes.
  • Utilize software with increasing efficiency and depth of understanding.
  • Undertake increasingly complex design tasks and responsibilities with a commitment to continuous learning and technical development.

Your resume must include:

  • Certificate in construction related design/drafting or higher.
  • OR at least 1 year of directly related experience drafting control systems, documentation, such as PLC I/O lists, wiring diagrams, terminal layouts, schematics, and panel layouts.
  • Basic knowledge of National Electric Code (NEC)

Starting Hourly Range: $22.00 - 29.00. A variety of factors are considered when determining an offer including, but not limited to, market data, geographic location, experience, and specialized skills.
