Job summary

Collabera in Wynnewood, OK is seeking a Principal Process Controls Engineer to develop and maintain the computer systems that control the refinery. The role requires hands-on programming within control systems and direct collaboration with refinery operations on process controls, safety systems, and optimization.

Eligible candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in chemical, electrical, or mechanical engineering and 6+ years of experience in process controls, with strong DCS experience including

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemical, electrical, or mechanical engineering.
• 6+ years of process controls engineering experience.
• Strong understanding of refinery/chemical processes.
• Experience with Honeywell control systems (TDC-3000/TPS, Experion, legacy).
• Strong DCS experience with hands-on programming/configuration.
• Knowledge of process safety and shutdowns / overpressure protection.
• Ability to explain technical concepts to operations personnel.

Job description

Title: Principal Process Controls Engineer

Location: Wynnewood, OK (open to relocation)

Duration: Full-time

Salary Range: $150K-$170K base + annual bonus

Under limited supervision, this position is responsible for developing and maintaining the computer systems required to control the refinery. To ensure the greatest possible degree of accuracy, the incumbent is expected to select, design, procure, install, develop, commission, and maintain the control systems.

Day-to-day:

• Approximately 25% hands-on programming, configuration, and troubleshooting within control systems.
• Work directly with refinery operations on process controls, safety systems, and optimization.
• Review engineering specs/drawings and support capital projects.
• Mentor junior engineers/PCS specialists.

MUST-HAVES

• Bachelor's in chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering required.
• 6+ years of Process controls engineering experience.
• Must understand how refinery/chemical processes work
• Honeywell (TDC-3000/TPS, TPN, Experion, and legacy systems).
• STRONG DCS EXPERIENCE: Need someone comfortable getting behind the computer and making actual programming/configuration changes.
• PROCESS SAFETY: Must understand how control systems interact with refinery processes, including shutdowns, overpressure protection, and safety requirements.
• Must be able to work directly with hourly operations personnel and explain technical concepts in a way that's easy to understand.
