Job summary

The Personnel Department Ltd. Dba is seeking a hands-on Process Automation Technician for our Portland, Oregon steel manufacturing facility. This role focuses on reliability, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of automated systems across a 24/7 operation.

You’ll work with PLCs, SCADA, HMIs, instrumentation, and control systems while collaborating with production and engineering teams. The ideal candidate has 1–3+ years in industrial automation, an associate degree in

Qualifications

Associate degree in Electronics, Automation, Mechatronics, or related field.
1–3+ years of industrial automation experience.
Experience with PLC systems (Allen-Bradley/Rockwell or Siemens).
Familiarity with SCADA and HMI.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot PLC, SCADA, HMI, instrumentation, and control systems.
Minimize downtime by diagnosing equipment issues and restoring throughput.
Perform routine inspections, calibration, and maintenance of automation and gauging systems.
Collaborate with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to identify problems and implement solutions.
Assist with installation, commissioning, modification, and upgrading of automation equipment and systems.
Read and interpret electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic schematics; document repairs.
