Process Automation Engineer
North American Process Automation Team
Erlanger, KY
This is a full-time, exempt position

Description:

The Process Automation Engineer will provide plant support for process automation systems to ensure successful operations through guidance, troubleshooting, and standard work. They will collaborate with Operations and other technology teams to execute projects while applying global standards. The engineer will proactively identify opportunities for process automation to mitigate risks, improve efficiency, and drive optimization projects. They will also support and enhance the standardization and documentation of process automation systems.

Additionally, the Process Automation Engineer will contribute to plant culture by supporting safety initiatives and Performance Excellence.

Job Requirements:
  • Ensure full compliance with safety and other EHS requirements
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of production processes, equipment, and operations to develop, improve, and maintain process and safety interlocks
  • Develop or modify process automation controls to achieve desired control processes and troubleshoot systems to resolve hardware or software issues
  • Document process automation hardware and software related to control systems
  • Work effectively within teams or independently to meet department goals
  • Communicate status updates and improvement suggestions
  • Maintain industry-specific training and certifications for career growth
  • Coach and develop colleagues effectively
  • Exhibit strong documentation and organizational skills
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills
  • Be highly motivated and a self-starter
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment
  • Understand cybersecurity fundamentals
  • Collaborate with third-party suppliers/contractors when applicable
  • Work in extreme temperatures, climb stairs, lift/move at least 40 pounds, and work in confined spaces or at heights
  • Be available for on-call rotations, including off-hours, holidays, and weekends
  • Occasional travel may be required
Preferred Experience/Education:
  • Associate's degree in a technical field; Bachelor's in Chemical, Electrical, Computer, or Automation Engineering preferred
  • At least 2 years of process control experience in an industrial setting
  • Experience with Distributed Control Systems such as Rockwell PlantPAx, Emerson DeltaV, or Valmet D/3
  • Experience with industrial IO platforms like Allen Bradley or Emerson
  • Familiarity with data historians like OSIsoft PI
  • Knowledge of industrial networks (TCP/IP, ControlNet, DH+, Modbus, etc.)
  • Understanding of industrial process control, instrumentation, electrical systems, and piping & instrumentation diagrams
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair process control systems safely around voltages up to 120V
