Job summary

Ash Grove Cement Company in Florida is seeking a Process Attendant for the Alternative Fuels program. You will monitor plant operations, perform safety procedures, and assist in sampling and inspections to ensure correct operation of feed systems. This full-time role offers a 12-hour rotating swing shift, 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

ET and 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m. ET, with pay at $20 per hour and a comprehensive benefits package including health and retirement plans, paid time off, and tuition

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.
• Ability to perform physical tasks: walking, climbing equipment, working in confined spaces.
• Ability to operate equipment such as front-end loaders, skid steers, forklifts, bobcats.
• Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percent).
• Must work outside in all weather, tolerate extreme heat and cold.
• Be able to walk < mile per day.
• Climb staircases up to 170 feet.
• Good hearing and sight with depth perception.
• Must work rotating swing shifts (12-hour).

Responsibilities

• Adhere to safety guidelines per plant and MSHA regulations.
• Maintain two-way radio communication with control room or supervisor.
• Assist in sampling procedures.
• Inspect and clean weigh feeders for accuracy.
• Observe bag houses to guard against air contamination.
• Walk through preheater tower to check leaks and temperatures.
• Inspect kiln and clinker cooler area for proper operations.
• Inspect finish mill circuit for equipment soundness and leaks.
• Complete plant inspections per shift.
• Check raw materials area for guarding and flow.
• Check raw mill grinding circuit for equipment soundness and leaks.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the workplace.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What you’ll be contributing:

• Adhere to all safety guidelines according to plant and MSHA regulations.
• Maintains two-way radio communication at all times with the control room operator or supervisor.
• Assists in sampling procedures.
• Inspects and cleans weigh feeders to ensure accuracy.
• Observes bag houses to guard against air contaminatio
• Walk through the preheater tower and look for air and material leaks, measure temperatures and look for normal operating conditions
• Walk through kiln and clinker cooler area looking for proper operations.
• Walk through the finish mill circuit and inspect for equipment soundness, material leakage, air leaks, etc.
• Makes a complete inspection of the plant at least once per shift:
• Walk through the raw materials storage area and check for proper guarding, material flow, equipment soundness, etc.
• Walk through raw mill grinding circuit and check for equipment soundness, material leaks, air leaks, etc
• Maintain company standards for workplace cleanliness and organization.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

To succeed in this position, you will need:

• High school graduation or equivalent is preferred
• Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.
• Ability to perform physical tasks that include walking, climbing equipment, working within confined spaces.
• Ability to drive and operate various equipment such as front-end loaders, skid steers, forklifts, bobcats, etc.
• Basic mathematic skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentage calculations).
• Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions and tolerate extreme heat and cold temperatures.
• Be able to walk < mile a day
• Frequently will be required to climb staircases up to 170 feet in elevation
• Constantly required to hear sounds and have clarity of near, far, and peripheral sight with depth perception
• Regularly requires the use of both hands for grasping and fine manipulations for repetitive motions
• Must be able to work rotating swing shifts including 12-hour shifts.

What to expect in a cement environment:

Work to be performed in a shop environment as well as outdoor exposure throughout the plant. Mild exposure to cement dust, heat, cold, and noise requires compliance with specified safety guidelines and procedures. Exposure to high elevations of up to 250 feet in height. Exposure to all weather conditions. Normal operation of mobile equipment may result in jarring and vibratory exposure.
