Job summary

Ash Grove Cement in Sumterville, FL is hiring a Process Attendant on a 12-hour rotating swing shift (7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. ET and 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m. ET). The role reports to Production Supervisor and pays $20/hr.

It emphasizes safety, inspection, and hands-on plant monitoring. You will perform plant inspections, sample procedures, operate equipment, and ensure cleanliness. Candidates should have a high school diploma, outdoor work tolerance, and ability to lift and climb as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to read and understand warnings, instructions and signs.
• Capable of performing physical tasks and working outdoors in all weather.
• Must be able to operate multiple plant equipment safely.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to safety guidelines per plant and MSHA.
• Maintain two-way radio communication with control room or supervisor.
• Assist in sampling procedures.
• Inspect and clean weigh feeders for accuracy.
• Monitor bag houses for air contamination.
• Walk through preheater tower to check for leaks and temps.
• Inspect kiln and clinker cooler area for proper operations.
• Inspect finish mill circuit for leaks and soundness.
• Perform a complete plant inspection each shift.
• Inspect raw materials storage area and material flow.
• Inspect raw mill circuit for equipment soundness and leaks.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization to company standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Be Contributing

• Adhere to all safety guidelines according to plant and MSHA regulations.
• Maintains two-way radio communication at all times with the control room operator or supervisor.
• Assists in sampling procedures.
• Inspects and cleans weigh feeders to ensure accuracy.
• Observes bag houses to guard against air contaminatio
• Walk through the preheater tower and look for air and material leaks, measure temperatures and look for normal operating conditions
• Walk through kiln and clinker cooler area looking for proper operations.
• Walk through the finish mill circuit and inspect for equipment soundness, material leakage, air leaks, etc.
• Makes a complete inspection of the plant at least once per shift:
• Walk through the raw materials storage area and check for proper guarding, material flow, equipment soundness, etc.
• Walk through raw mill grinding circuit and check for equipment soundness, material leaks, air leaks, etc
• Maintain company standards for workplace cleanliness and organization.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

To Succeed In This Position, You Will Need

• High school graduation or equivalent is preferred
• Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.
• Ability to perform physical tasks that include walking, climbing equipment, working within confined spaces.
• Ability to drive and operate various equipment such as front-end loaders, skid steers, forklifts, bobcats, etc.
• Basic mathematic skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentage calculations).
• Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions and tolerate extreme heat and cold temperatures.
• Be able to walk < mile a day
• Frequently will be required to climb staircases up to 170 feet in elevation
• Constantly required to hear sounds and have clarity of near, far, and peripheral sight with depth perception
• Regularly requires the use of both hands for grasping and fine manipulations for repetitive motions
• Must be able to work rotating swing shifts including 12-hour shifts.

What To Expect In a Cement Environment

Work to be performed in a shop environment as well as outdoor exposure throughout the plant. Mild exposure to cement dust, heat, cold, and noise requires compliance with specified safety guidelines and procedures. Exposure to high elevations of up to 250 feet in height. Exposure to all weather conditions. Normal operation of mobile equipment may result in jarring and vibratory exposure.
