Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering is required.
  • At least 3 years of relevant professional experience in analytical lab or with process analyzer design/maintenance.
  • Strong understanding of power distribution, controls and process instrumentation.
  • Experience with process analyzers, sample systems, and environmental monitoring is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver expert process analyzer engineering support for a chemical manufacturing environment, primarily for the Texas site, with the flexibility to assist other sites as required.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for improved process analyzers, sample systems, and on-line analytical services with a focus on quality, cost and reliability.
  • Maintain technical expertise in assigned functional areas of process analyzers and sample systems, including process gas chromatographs, process safety analyzers and environmental monitoring.
  • Provide engineering design, equipment specifications and scope definition to support procurement and construction activities for capital and maintenance projects.
  • Develop forecast cost and schedule estimates for capital and maintenance projects involving process analyzers and sample systems.
  • Lead and participate on standards teams to develop and maintain analyzer and sample system standards and practices, aligning with PIP and other applicable industry standards.
  • Interpret codes and standards related to functional areas of expertise and ensure their application across site projects.
  • Provide training to operating departments and Analyzer Mechanics related to assigned functional areas.
  • Stay updated on emerging analyzer technologies and industry best practices by attending user symposiums, engaging with vendors, participating in training sessions and reviewing relevant literature.
  • Serve as an active contributor to the TXO Process Analyzer Team (TX PAT) and the Eastman Corporate Process Analyzer Collaboration Team (PACT) to drive alignment between Engineering, Maintenance and Operations.
  • Collaborate with E&I team members on continuous improvement initiatives focused on enhancing analyzer engineering processes and standards.
  • Offer on-call analyzer engineering support for plant maintenance and operations, ensuring timely resolutions to issues that arise.
  • Provide maintenance troubleshooting support for more complex on-line analyzer issues.
  • Execute all responsibilities with a strong emphasis on safety in both work practices and design considerations.
  • Foster teamwork and prioritize customer satisfaction in all interactions.
  • Support the Management of Change process.
  • Prioritize work assignments based on safety, environmental considerations, regulatory compliance and economic impact to Eastman.
